Hello,
First time poster here after scouring Google for UK CRT repairs.
Anyone able to offer repairs? I'm based in Telford but can travel to drop off/pick up.
I have a loved Sony Trinitron KV-14V4U which I use quite often for playing my MISTER on.
Unfortunately it died the other day, I left the room for a few minutes whilst it was on and when I returned there was no picture and a strong smell of burning plastic.
After letting it cool down for an hour I took the back off for a look. I couldn't see anything that looked burnt or any capacitors that had looked to have popped. Following the smell with my nose it smelt like the burning was coming from a transformer (circled on picture - may not be what I say it is
).
I tried to power it up again for science. There was a good sound like the TV normally makes when it is trying to start but no picture appeared and there was a bit of a fizzing noise before that stopped. I unplugged it again then in case I caused further damage.
To be fair its full of dust and the battery that retains the time and calibration settings has gone so its in need of a bit of TLC if anyone is up for it.
