So has anyone here been to see the new Star Wars yet?

No spoilers or discussions about the content of the film please. There will be many whom haven't seen it yet.

I was tempted to go at 0:01 this morning after work, just so I would see it the moment it was released. Instead I went this morning to the 11:00 showing.

Did I like the film? Of course I did. It was great. Was it as good as the original trilogy? That is very hard to say without mentioning anything in the film, so I will let you make your own mind up.

No way i could see it anytime soon. There's no ticket, this movie is sold out for several days (never seen that before). And i fear a terrorist attack in the crowded theaters of Paris these days.
Actually, i am looking into a good home theater audio system to watch movies at home from now on :(

I am so looking forward to it :D

So am I. My two years old kid will come along with me so he can become a proper heir of his father (just kidding, he is too young, I´m afraid).

Finding it hard to decide whether this is the 3rd or 4th best Star Wars, which is very good :D

Yes. I think 7 is the better movie generally (over Jedi), but nostalgia has a bit of a leverage :)

I would agree that it's probably the 3rd best star wars film behind Empire as the greatest, then A New Hope. I do need to see it once more before making my mind up though.

Just got back from it, had a blast. These are the Star Wars I was waiting for.

I just saw it...seems I am a minority....whilst it was very well produced, it felt like it was a redo of an original episode. It was still enjoyable...but left me feeling ho hum

Indeed. It reuses so many things again from the original trilogy and doesn't really have any epic standout scenes such as the original 's trench run. What it does have which saves the film are great actors.

I've just seen it at last.

I have a mixed opinion.
I understand why Georges Lucas is not pleased with this movie.
It is an enjoyable movie in absolute, as JJ Abrams knows how to do, but as a Star Wars movie, it would be 6/7 or 7/7 to me.
The right order to me is:
1/ Return of the Jedi
2/ Empire Strikes Back
3/ A New Hope
4/ Revenge of the Siths
5/ Attack of the Clones
6/ Phantom Menace and The Force Awakens

From what i have read, i understand that Lucas was thinking of a more psychological family drama movie, more like Episodes 5 and 6.
I'm not saying more until spoilers are not forbidden anymore :-)

Saw it, and was very disappointed... It felt like watching a Harry Potter movie, too fast, nice cgi, poor story, bad acting, re-using everything that made the old movies cool, and thus making the movie really predictable... It felt like a non Star Wars fan tried to put in as many cool things as possible hoping to please the old fans.

I've re-thougt about my previous post. I made The Phantom Menace and The Force Awakens equal in 6th position, but that was only because of Jar Jar Binks. Now, i am placing The Force Awakens alone in 7th position.

Frankly, i feel sad that the Thrawn trilogy has been officialy erased of the canon universe.

So true. The Thrawn trilogy are the film/s that should have been next. Followed by the New Jedi Order.

There were so many elements of the new film which felt like they belonged in a super hero franchise rather than SW. The only thing that saves the film were Daisy and Harrison. They made the film and she deserves far more then the 300K they paid her, compared to Harrison's 72M.
