Ever since spotting sweet game deals from Steam, GOG and Origin, I've found myself constantly running out of space on my Games partition. The funny part is that I've only even tried a fraction of the stuff I've downloaded. And properly played even less.

Does anyone else find him or herself in the same situation.

I've been thinking about getting a dedicated drive for my games. A Terabyte will hopefully suffice me for some time. I suppose you can move stuff between hard drives and then just rename the new drive to the original letter in Disk management? Good thing that I have a dedicated partition for games.

Steam is a fantastic resource, and their frequent sales get a lot of attention from me. The downside is, I now have a large amount of games that I have only briefly played, and only a couple I have completed.
I have had to stop myself from looking in their store, just so that I can give those games I already have a chance. :)

Im in the same boat... about 400gb of games installed and a load more I have not had the space to download.
:D

Totally agree. Only a couple of years ago I had just a handful of games in Steam; mainly Valve's own, but then started to see games coming up in their offers I'd wanted for some time. I quickly started to run out of space on the 500GB partition I had set up for games, so purchased a 2TB drive specifically for games.

Then I got addicted to checking out their weekly Specials.. but it got bad in the Summer and then Winter sales last year because there were so many great bargains. And also replacing a lot of the older games I already had in disc for Stream versions to make it much easier to have them digitally into the future. Only annoying thing with older games in Steam is they don't contain updates needed for newer OS and screen resolutions, so you have to manually fix them yourself... simmering where GOG is better.

Problem now is that I'm running out of room on that 2TH drive! I grab the collections, especially the developer complete collections, and these can total a lot of hdd space combined. My Stream drive is now only has 200GB of space left. and my Steam account contains over 480 games!

You can install games on multiple drives in Steam though. When the install window appears for a game you can select where to install. You can also just move your existing Steam game directory to another drive and Stream well check the files and then happily continue as normal. Just search in Steam help for "copying Steam games to new drive" or "moving Steam installation to a new computer". When building a new computer it's easy as you can just move your existing Steam installation onto the new computer and continue. I with other software in Windows was that portable!

yep the same here, some 50 + games across many clients and not really played any of them properly!

damn you digital downloads!

Not only that, but new games are around 14gb now which will only get worse! It's a conspiracy I tell ya!

I went and ordered a 1 TB drive from a local webstore. For 62,50 € it wasn't such a bad deal but I could've lived without the extra expense. :( Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later so might as well bite the bullet.

That's a lot of Steam games! I only signed up late last year and i have a bunch of games, i am also the same as most Steam gamers in that i have not played a lot of the titles that i own.

Same here, i now own 110 titles on steam but have only really played around 10 of them due to running out of space to install them.

Wasn't actually going to get on the Steam bandwagon due to their DMR policy and was going to just stick with GOG. Then they published the Monkey Island Special editions on Steam so I thought OK, I'll just get those. Now I think I have 20 or so titles on Steam.

Stating the obvious, but:

Since on Steam you can download at any time after purchase, any number of times, delete the install data on all games except the ones you are actively playing! :D

Then when you are truly finished, download the next game (overnight if needed).
Generally save data and configuration can always be retained, and uses very little space.

I also used to download everything I bought until I switched to SSD and 1 auxiliary storage drive, went from 1.35TB in the comp to 120+460GB for everything, now I can't store my full Steam lib even if I wanted to. :p

(Not trying to be smartass or anything, honest, it's a bit about changing storage habits and the "need" to collect everything at once.)

Regarding moving stuff between hard drives I recommend this

As has been said. Steam is almost like a drug. Their deals are like a fix. I've bought so much and played so little...

HELP!!!
