amiga os 3.9

what devices have people got to work with them and how?
eg
sound card
net card
web cam
tv card/capture
any help please

john

I have successfully used so far, Ethernet NIC, Mouse, Keyboard, Card Reader and USB sticks.

Sound card won't operate since it requires DMA alas it will only work on Deneb. (I think subway recognizes it though iirc)

The Subway is a weak board compared to the Deneb or even Algor/Highway.

Mine works well with usb sticks, memory card readers, mouse or keyboard (but i do not have any use for that as my A1200 already has a mouse and a keyboard) and it seems to work with the dm4610eth usb adapter (but PCMCIA NIC is more reliable).
It does not work with any external hard drive, USB floppy drive, even from a powered hub. My USB sound card is not recognized at all.
I have an external DVD burner with big external 12 V PSU which works good though as a reader (MakeCD can't burn from it).
The subway seems to have trouble with everything plugged behind a hub, even a mere usb stick.
Could be better in a tower with a stronger PSU.

Always use a psu and a powered hub, my personal piece of advice. It supports everything poseidon usb stack brings, but I noticed on my a600 config it is real slow, with aca 630 on clock port a 603, on a4000 with deneb it is far more reasonable even in zorro ii mode, it also has troubles with 8 gb sticks etc in my config even with psu but less.

My subway has worked with external USB HDDs and thumb drives as long as they are not formatted in NTFS. I have also used a hand held bluetooth mouse/keyboard combo called the logitech dinovo mini with it. Regular mice and keyboards as well. Keep in mind the mouse and keyboard and even mass storage devices will not work while playing old games (whdload for example)

Whdload and poseidon do not play nice together, you should shut down the USB stack before running a whdload game.

Hi

Maybe is not the correct thread because I use DENEB. In anyway I think both boards use the same Poseidon stack.

Normally as T_Hairy_Bootson said, I need to shutdown Poseidon to play WHDLoad games but....... one surprise :wooha:

Yesterday, after installing RTGMaster libraries, WHDLoad Dev 16.9 & Poseidon coexists without problems.... :wooha: I don't need to shutdown Poseidon anymore...

I tested this with 3.9 BB3, CWBP96, AmigaSYS and a lot of WHDLoad games don't run before..... Now "all" games are working with USB ON.... :wooha:

Games tested Indiana Jones series, Monkey Island series, Dyter07, Shadow of the Beast, and more.....

All the best

Amazing!
What are those libraries for?

A short line in whdload.prefs can shutdown poseidon when a game starts, and turn it on again when the game exits by the way.

@Xanxi

Yes I know about lines on WHDLoad prefs and also I have the mfilos icons.

I installed RTGMaster libraries on my 3.9 BB3 because is a requirement to install some AmigaCD games.

After installed RTGMaster I started WHDLoad games (really I forget to disable USB) and it works wirh USB ON. After that, I started some games without issues.

Later I installed RTGMaster on CWBP96 and AmigaSYS and WHDLoad games now run without probs (before systems hungs or reboot).

........

Best wishes

cheers for the info guys .
so the sound is a no-no thats a shame.
will have have a play
thanks john

You can operate USB Missile Launchers from an Amiga too. Unlike other computer systems, you can use the joystick or control pad to move the launcher in eight directions, although if you prefer to use a GUI like on Windows I'm working on one which I hope to finish soon.

I could only find one on eBay.co.uk, and I don't know where else you would find them these days because they seem to have become hard to find now. They're great for defending your desk against cats and surprising visitors as they enter the door.

They come in a box that looks like this: http://home.exetel.com.au/amiga/CammyRocketLauncher.JPG

I want to make a better demonstration video because I barely control it in the one I made, but you can see how they work at the end of this video: http://www.youtube.com/user/AmigaCammy#p/u/5/aTLvrhlNdyc

Other things that work with USB on the Amiga are mice, control pads, keyboards, numeric keypad (great for expanding an A600), hubs, wireless guitar controllers, card readers, Playstation adapters, pen drives, external CD/DVD drives, scanners and printers. I've used them all on my various USB-enabled Amigas including the A1200, A600, Efika (running MorphOS) and A1600 Netbook (running Aros).
