Hi Group,

I got a Super Snapshot V4 cartridge in a box of Commodore stuff at a garage sale. Great! But, when I plugged it in, all I get is a black screen. So, does anyone know of a way to redeem this cart? Stuff I tried was to clean the surface of the plug-in (forgot what the heck that is called), cleaned the toggle switch and push button switch with De-Oxit contact cleaner, and re-seated the rom chip. Still, just get a black screen. I guess I've been fortunate in that I've only had three carts out of about fifty that I couldn't use...

Regards,

Rob

maybe the rom on board has gone blank or possibly a electrical fault

not sure if you actually tested any switch to see if it was working or did any sort diagnostics

Hi Roy,

Thanks for replying. I didn't actually check continuity of either switch to see if they were functional. I can easily do that. But, what other diagnostics can I perform?

you remove the rom and read it out on a programmer, not sure if you have a programmer or know where to get an image thats on this cart though

any logic on the board would of course mean looking at datasheets and truth tables

I don't have a programmer or a way to get the rom image burned on to another chip. So, that probably means this cartridge is added to my parts bin. Thanks anyway Roy!

Did you ever get this working? Looking at the schematic for the super snapshot 5 (not sure if it is the same), it could also be a PLA problem.

Hi kalidomra, I did get it working with eslapion's help. I think he found a bad chip in the cart. Thanks for replying...
