Hi all, i have for sale my spare MegaCD II combo. Since i managed to pick up a mark 1 setup i think its time to let this one go.
This setup has been made to Wolfsoft's Ultimate Switchless spec as seen in his blog here
The megadrive II is switchless so you can switch between 50/60hz and Eng/Jap by holding down the reset button for more than 10 seconds to select the region/hz setting. Let go on either of the colours and it will switch regions.
Green - Pal/50Hz
Orange - USA/60Hz
Red - Jap/60hz
The megacd has also had a multiregion bios installed which contains all three bios images and will switch with the console. I.e. switch the machine to PAL (green) and you get the PAL MegaCD bios, USA (orange) you get the US bios and Japan (red) you get the Japanese Bios. This means you can play games from any region just by holding the reset button. A quick press of the reset button still resets the console as normal. pressing the button for a few seconds will switch the 50/60hz setting without changing the region.
The final modification done to the machine is pin 6 of the megadrive av output has been wired to the switchless mod. This pin is usually used for mono audio but if you use a stereo rgb scart cable then its not required. This mod allows a 32x to switch regions along with the console. There is no 32x supplied and you will need to mod your own 32x to make this work. I am willing to help with the 32x mod and all that is required is one trace cut and one wire attaching from pin 6 of the 32x av in to the region select pads. See link here
I will include one PAL CD game which is the Sega Classics collection (disk only and a few scratches but works fine). Also included is two Sega PSU's and one 3 button controller. There is no tv cable included included as i need the scart cable for my 32x and i don't have an RF cable so you will need to purchase an RGB Scart This is the one i use and it works perfectly (Buy it Now) Also includes the Metal Fixing plate (with screw), a small metal shield and the extension bracket for the original Megadrive.
Lastly, although the machine is hardware capable of playing cartridge games from all regions i have NOT widened the cartridge slot. This is because i don't own any US/JAP cartridges so have not needed to do so.
For this machine i am looking for £80 (was £100) plus p&p
Thanks for looking
