There is no pullup resistor on the opto :)
That is to limit the current to the opto LED and stop it from frying!
(its already pullup in the code)

-(e)

According to the diagram in the first post, there was also a pull-up resistor on pin 5 of the optocoupler. ;)

Indeed there was, but that disappeared and internal pullup is used:

Just checking in to this awesome Tapuino thread.

I'm just finished building one on breadboard, but will make one on vero board as soon as I get hand on it, and box it.
The counter problem is something I just ran into my self. I am already impressed by the code sweetlilmre has made, but if he could make that feature, I will bow for the king!

Looks like the counter may be an option when the new HW rev is done... :)

Perfect, thank you!
Speaking of features... Could you implement the possibility of stopping the tape and starting it again from that point? Aborting could be achieved by pressing "stop" twice, i. e., pressing "stop" the first time stops the tape, pressing it again closes the tap file and exits to the menu.

PCBs for this project send to production, it will take 2-4 weeks.

I have made a first batch of 10 PCBs, 2 for me and 1 for sweetlilmre.
The other 7 I will put for sale once assembled and tested. The price will be 5 Euros + p.p.
p.p. could be around 6 Euros for PCB only registered mail, perhaps less I will check.

I was planning to make a kit including all the components except the arduino, SD shield and LCD, dirty cheap on ebay.
In this way you only need a piece of 6 pole cable and this 3 components. Need to calculate the cost but could be around 15-20 Euros including the box.
The box (PP9) is available in black&ivory, my local supplier only has black, could be included, but is quite easy to find:

http://www.evatron.com/index.php?pag=product&cid=10&sid=58&pid=1538&l=2

I would like to know if anyone could be interested in PCB, Kit with or without box...

Yay! I can't believe this little project I started has become this :-) makes me smile every time I think of it. Massive points to spcbm for getting this to production! I will soon have quite a bit of code to write... :-)

If the pcb can be used for dumping tapes in standalone mode I'd start with 2 unassembled. more could be needed though (I got a ton of tapes that needs dumping).

pm me when you got them please :-).

Guys, guys! Shouldn't you wait for a proper sales thread before declaring interest? I mean, this is Sweetlimre's development thread after all. :)

protek is right , I will open a pre-sales thread when I have all the prices.
This is the first version, everything should be OK, but when PCBs come, I will assembly and test 1 complet unit and then put for sale the rest of PCBs or kits.

Sweetlimre needs to modify the code for this hardware revision.

You can also make a PCB with an output female solder connector instead of male connector so you can attach it directly to the back of the Commodore?
I apologize for the bad english ...
Best regards

The male connector is for optional datassette, but it could be a good idea to attach the female to the box, but need to change PCB layout for buttons.
Perhaps in a new hardware revision.

Ok sorry, I did not see completely new PCB!
In fact, there is also the CD4052 and the connector for datassette ...

Hello, could anyone try loading "Evil Dead" and report back?

Unfortunately my tapuino is not yet finished (missing LCD :-) but I tried with 1541U2 + tape extender:

65,536 Evil Dead, The (1984)(Palace Software).tap --> not working
484,432 Evil Dead, The (1984)(Palace Software)[a].tap --> ok with 1542 U2

not sure which version you have tried ;-)

But the IC 4052 (dual 4-channel analog multiplexer/demultiplexer) in this project is the 74HC4052 or CMOS HEF4052?
