Hi

I have just bought a Tatung Einstein TC-01 with TM-01 colour monitor. Although it was advertised as working, the monitor is not working, I just get blue on blue output from the TC-01, so I guess that the R&G channels are faulty in some way.

The Monitor has a selector switch for YUV/RGB analogue or RGB TTL and the TC-01 can be selected internally between YUV or RGB analogue.

To prove that the TC-01 was working, I wanted to make up a cable to take the video output to a TV, so I made up a cable to connect the YUV output to the component inputs of my TV, however, my TV reports "Invalid Format" when the component input is selected. I have checked my cable and the TC-01 video configuration, so it looks like the component output is either faulty or not compatible with my TV.

Is anyone here using a TC-01 with component output to a TV? Is there anything special about the required cable?

On a more positive note, I was able to make up an RGB cable and get the RGB output working with the SCART (RGB) input on the same TV.

I'm probably going to be out of luck with the TM-01 monitor, I've not got any experience trying to repair monitors, but I'll probably give it a go at some point.
(Yes, I know about dangers)

regards
Dave

to be fair,id look at the internals on the monitor it probably has dry joints

and yes,i do repair monitors

If I remember rightly you can mod the einsteins video out port to take a bbc scart lead. if you do that then you could verify the output ? google hopefully will turn up something. good luck!

Hi Iain,

Thanks for the reply. I don't need to modify the output port. As I mentioned, I pinned the board to generate analogue RGB and made a cable to connect to the SCART port of my TV, so the RGB output is working.

I was interested to know if anyone was using the component video output without modifying the output signal

regards
Dave
