Hey everybody,

I have some strange issues with the TF1230 and I was wondering if anyone can help me on this.
I have it installed in a 1D4 board with timing fixes (I removed capacitors E123C,E125C). ROMs are 3.1 and I have an indivision MK2 fli-fi installed

The CPU installed on the TF1230 is a ceremic one @ 50 MHz. I run whichamiga and this one appears to be a genuine one.

The problem I have is a weird one. If I connect a CF card in the amiga native IDE connector the 1200 never boots with the TF1230 (blank screen, responds to CTRl + A+A).
If i remove the "enable 030" jumper from the TF1230 the amiga boots fine (logo and then loads a disk if it inserted) with no mem and 030
If I install the "enable 030" jumper again and remove CF cards the amiga waits for 30 sec give or take (IDE Check for a HDD) and then boots

If I run sysinfo from a floppy I can see the accelerator is recognized as a 030@51.80MHz with 64MB of memory

I have tried two different PSUs (one 1200 and one 500 4.5A heavy duty)
I have tried two different CF cards (transcend 4GB and 8 GB)
I have tried two different IDE2CF adapters (one angled from kipper2k and one el-cheapo chinese) all with the same results.

Both CF cards were installed in the same 1200 with a blizzard 1230 MKIV working fine (classicWB)

Do I need to do something special with the TF1230 so that the native IDE will work? I am not talking about the TF1230 onboard IDE as for this one I know a special ROM must be made.

Do I have to install something?

You don't need special ROMs for utilising the TF1230's IDE port. A simple WB3.1 installation with the added command LoadModule >NIL: DEVS:ehide.device just before the Setpatch command in the start-sequence gives you complete access to the TF1230's IDE interface.

LoadModule is part of the MMULibs archive which you will find on Aminet

If the TF1230 is still using the old firmware, it is recommended to get your card flashed to the latest version which I believe is RC1. Your builder should be happy to help if you are unable to do it yourself.

But he is asking about the tf1230 not 1260 ?
I don't have a 1230 but might have read about issues with earlier firmware?

@CrazyC

Yeah, I did notice after typing all that out, fixed it now to TF 1230 lol

Thanks for your answers.

I know about TF1230 IDE port and LoadModule >NIL: DEVS:ehide.device

I am having trouble with the 1200's native IDE port, not TF1230's

The CF cards I am using are from Transcend and have ClassicWb installed. I ll give it a try with a different brand

Have you tried installing OS3.1 from scratch onto a blank CF card and see if it will then boot from the A1200s IDE with the TF1230 in place?

Well I did a fresh install on one of the cards.

I installed 3.1 using FFS while partitioning the card and it works just fine.

I can not be sure what custom FS I used previously on that card but I think it was SFS.

Is there a known issue with this FS with TF1230?

I am led to believe there were several issues with the old original firmware for the TF1230 which were supposedly rectified with the release of the RC1. I am unable to confirm if there is/was any issue with SFS but it could be where your problem lies since we know FFS is working fine.

It might pay you to now try copying ClassicWB files over to the known working FFS CF card and see if it runs.

Good luck :)

Is there a way to see firmware version of a TF card ? When was RC1 released exactly?

Have a chat with either Allenpc or Supaduper, they should be able to point you in the right direction. I don't personally know where RC1 is now deposited (Github I should think).

Yes you can find the firmware version by using `Sysinfo`, just click on the expansion tab on the bottom of the screen and you will see the version

RC1 was released on 14 -9- 2021

Small update...

I still have some issues that seem to be unrelated to file system or CF card. I have some strange freezing issues some that make me believe it comes down to the CPU.

I have uploaded a photo of the CPU, can anyone help me on this if this is a genuine CPU or not?

supaduper has made a quite a few of them, I guess he knows a few things about fake/non fake CPUs :)

No I do not build or sell the the TF1230, probably the best person to ask is Alenppc

With sysinfo 4.4 it just says "no autoconfig boards". Or you mean Workbench's showconfig ?

This is the problem I do not make the TF1230 but I thought it will show you the Firmware in the boards section like it does for the TF1260, like I said you need someone to answer here who actually make the TF1230
