I just wanted to say, there are so many people I have met through Amibay that just blow my mind.

The Amiga is incredible.

It's a great computer and the most awesome community I know.

Is there, or will there ever be another computer that had/has such a strong loyal group of users, or one that generally generates such good or fond memories of the time when Amiga was the "now" machine?

The only close is Apple(?), but I cant imagine the vast majority of users reminiscing about their MAC from 20-30 years ago, or even reviving it!

The 80's were such a creative era for computers.....now everything is all the same and unemotional. With so much "same" technology its hard to see the same communities or creative talents standing out now. I like my Android tablet and my PC.....but I love my Amiga!

Then again...maybe Im just getting old :)

yes the amiga is great:D

but i believe like so many that they are all great, the 8,16,32 bit systems of the years gone by.

I agree, it is great. And it's...

A

Magical

Intensely awesome

God given gift...for

All

But like some gifts, not everyone appreciates the gift :D

I concur, the Amiga will always have a place in my life no matter where I am or will be:)

Thanks for making it real Jay:cool:

:)

This is really something i wonder myself. I have searched various forums, but such love for a specific machine, i do not think i have ever came across.

Yep, I use a MAC these days but it is vital that the Amiga community continues to survive/thrive pending the platform's eventual resurrection...

Finally! something we can all agree on! ;-)LOLfor me though more precisely, AmigaOS is great!

The Amiga changed everything back in the day. Still amazes me all these years on what the old girl can do.

Whilst modern computers have moved on in terms of 'evolution' they are nothing in comparison to the 'revolution' the Amiga made back in 1985.

You've got an Amiga back in the days, you've got features out of this world.
Competitors offered some of them but NONE all of them...
Steady horse-power, fully utilized in games, painting, modelling, sound sampling etc

For the history, I bought a 1040STFM (upgrading from a CPC 464) cause an Amiga 500 was a bit more expensive. I don't regret for the great ST and for what was capable for, BUT I missed EHB/HAM graphics, STEREO DMA sound, smooth scrolling, hardware sprites, OS multitasking ... In other words ... I missed the home-computing revolution...
I bought an A500 a year later (mid 1988). My jaws started dropping...

(PS: the list of the Amiga features is huge and I wasn't interested i.e. for its exceptional video editing capabilities or MIDI third-party I/O. I was just a kid / teenager, as most of you...) :)

It's OK I guess. My Amiga get fired up every day, so I guess that says something for it....

It's great because a new hardware and software continues to be released even today. Even Workbench 3.1 was recently re-released by Cloanto. We can never expect a re-release of Windows 3.1 or MS-DOS.
