Hi,

Is there anyone out there with a Power Computing PB880BS external floppy drive that can take some photos of the internal circuit board please?

I have a feeling that the board in mine is the XL, 1.76Mb floppy version and I'd like a photo of a known working board of either the standard PC880B or the XL version for comparison with mine.

If anyone knows of a link to a manual for this drive, that would be great.

Thanks

I have PC880BCyclone.
The floppy drive itself is knackered I think, but I`m happy to take some snaps if you want?

Yes please.

From doing a bit of digging, I believe the one I have might have the Blitzcopy hardware in it, as it has an A-O-B switch as well as an O-I on-off switch. That means it's probably a PC880B, but any circuit board pictures of these is useful hardware pr0n anyway...;)

Yeah, mine has those 2 switches too...
You are welcome to it if you need/want?

I`ll get some snaps...

Ooh, yes please, Wolfy... ;)

Let me know the postage costs and I'll sling some beer tokens your way.

Funny how you want pictures of this drive as I have just found the remains of one :)

It is a PC880BS and was dumped in a box full of A1200's and other amiga bits????

I cannot remember exactly why it ended up in there but the disk drive refused to work afaik so I probably just left it. Some parts are missing tho. The internal floppy ribbon, the power lead and the two thumbscrew things on the external lead connector. looks like I nabbed them for something else. I want to solder in a new power lead but dont know which wires provided power and ground?

I also found a Sony MPF920-E so im going to start by converting that and then start putting things put back together.

I have the XL drive (knackered, as the mini-PAL chip fried awesomely).

Lemme dig the board in my spare room outside when is not too cold here*.

*typical spring day in England, lol, but near 0°C is way too cold in Banana Land.

Maybe I should rename this thread to "The Great Power Computing PC880B External Floppy Drive Resurrection Thread..."

Time for some Zombie 880kb action lol

I really do hope this thing isnt fried... I just cannot remember exactly what happend, I do have the original drive model written down somewhere but could not use it for some reason. Time to hunt all my scrap notes and see what was going on.

I do have something else that will be a serious challenge! I have an Amitek external high density drive with a custom adaptor. I killed that thing in a blaze of glory :picard

All I did was unplug it and the hole lot blew apart, wires ripped off, plastic connector cover in two halfs etc. To say I was gutted was an understatement :( I did try and note as many of the coloured wires as I could so maybe something can be sorted... just dont know if it will be possible.
