So, looks like I've been doing a good job with both the quality of my Amiga rework and photographing the results, because someone in the US (and on Commodore Amiga FB group) is advertising his recap service with my picture(s), but he forgot the watermark "tbtorro" :) He could not even be bothered to write his own ad, but copy pasted my text from my recap thread..

I could take this as a compliment, only if he would asked permission (and at least given credit), but I think he is presenting it as his own work.. DOH.. :( I have removed his name so he won't gets bullied, and asked him to remove my image, so far with no result..

That is really not very fair, hope it gets sorted soon and he takes down your material from his site.

Alternatively looks like you could open a franchise model, so get royalties for your images etc!

Name and shame the sh*t, it's blatant plagiarism

:)

I tried, (well not directly, just not editing the screenshots above) but my post was deleted from the Facebook group.. He also somtimes spams my own posts, saying he can do the same work, but cheaper, better conditions etc.. etc.. which was already border line, but this last maneuver above really blew my fuse..

Definitely name and shame, so that we can snow him under with e-mails expressing our opinion :)

He charges $45 dollars just to look at the PCB and still says he can do it cheaper than you?? You must have seriously premium pricing!

name and shame...also wondering if its a scam if he cant show his own work...

Nah, he's been around on the FB group for a while, but I have never seen a single closeup picture of his work. Maybe he is good maybe not I really don't know.

I won't name him as this is a public forum but I'm pretty sure based on my screenshots in my OP he can be found. I just wish he would present himself more honestly and not on the back of someone else's work.

no worries,it wasnt too hard to find out who you meant anyway :) and the site he works from...

Well he just removed it so case closed I guess. The explanation of "sorry, just found it on Google images" is a bit lame though, as he has also copy pasted my own ad text from here and BBOAH.. pff..... really.

Anyway, appologies accepted, all cool now, birds are singing etc.. I don't have more time to waste on this-- over and out.. :run:

Sardine says this cannot be done on Amibay...

I've just read through the Amibay Rules (again) and I see no rule that would forbid naming the person/site.

^^ What Sardine said ^^

We are bound by the Data Protection Act in the UK and we have to keep personal details of our members secure. The only times we can disclose member details to other parties are:-

1. To a recognised enforcement agency, e.g. the Police, Action Fraud etc. if we believe that a crime or fraud has been committed that we need to report;
2. Under a direct request for information from a law enforcement agency, as above; or
3. To parties directly involved in a crime or fraud that we are investigating, and then only under private cover.

We NEVER disclose private information on the open forum, not without seeking the person's explicit consent to do so first. Even when we have wanted to disclose details, we have had to be bound by the DPA and respect the law on private data. All forums should respect this as they are defined as Data Controllers under the Act.

Anyone disclosing another member's private details in the open forum leaves themselves open to being frozen, or more likely, banned.

A thread I opened about an individual who effectively stole a PLAnkton from me was deleted. This person is not a member of Amibay.

The data protection act prohibits the distribution of a persons name along with further personal details such as address, bank details, social security numbers or other unique identifiers. Saying that Joe Blogs from site X swiped my pictures/text is not covered by any law in the UK or Europe.

But then under UK law you subject yourself to slander laws and risk civil action

@Thread

I do feel the frustration at times with the way AmiBay has to process these things.

Sadly this happened off site as such AmiBay cannot (and will not) take any side or party - this is a civil matter for the parties involved, as such if statements are made on this site it could be brought into legal conflict in both libellous and defamation cases.

It is in the interest to all members that AmiBay doesn't get involved with off-site civil disputes as it could be hit with legal wrangles that it can ill afford to fend off.

I would argue the title to the OP is a bit presumptuous as it matters not how good one is, just how prolific you are. If someone is using your created content without your permission you are entitled to sue for costs of damages, this can be in "good-will" as well as lost sales / service - sadly this is a personal matter - I am not a solicitor or legal practitioner so I would suggest getting in contact with one.

I could also say you stole £1000 from me,.,, its my word against yours and not appropriate for anyone here to name and shame especially if the person is not a member and cannot defend themselves.

time this thread got closed..
