I recently got an Addonics NAS 3.0 adapter to turn my LaCie Neil Poulton 1 TB USB hard drive into a network drive. It installs easily and detects the HD but when I tried to move my wast music library and movie collection onto the drive the copy process failed always at some point and the Samba server lost the connection to the storage, resulting to a power cycle for the Addonics and HD and the HD not being detected so easily any more.

I can't simply copy the stuff over USB as Addonics creates its own shared folder that are visible over network and those aren't visible over USB.

Not a very good first impression, I would say. I've contacted the Addonics technical support to see, if they're able to resolve my problem and then decide whether I'll return it. Should've probably have bought a proper all-in-one NAS solution in the first place. Probably would've, if the mass storage prices weren't so high ATM.

Has anyone got any experience of Addonics NAS adapters?

This thing is going to get returned back to where I bought it from. I went and bought the Lacie 1 TB Neil Poulton Network Space NAS. Turns out that the Lacie also has an USB connector for i.e. printer so I won't be needing my printer server no longer.
