Has anyone ever tried this?

The one room I don't have a TV aerial socket is in the Kitchen, but I want to put my small 23 HDTV in the dining end. I've got a NOWTV Box so can stream internet content such as sky on demand and iPlayer via WiFi, but I can't connect to an aerial socket for Freeview.

Then I wondered about using powerline adapters to get my network to the TV and wondered if there are any solutions to send a TV signal via Ethernet to another TV.

A quick search revealed a few hardware setups to convert video to Ethernet at one end and then back at the other, but unsure if this is just a direct video feed such as hdmi or scart, and not an actual TV aerial connection. Any ideas or info?

I think you have to have a PC (or Linux box) running as a host which pulls in a live TV signal then allows clients around the home to connect to a service on that host to view the channel via any type of network. At least for freeview and freesat reception.

I was wondering if that was the only way. I've seen some hardware which looks like it takes care of that sort of setup, with a box at the source point of the network converting the tv signal into a network signal, then a receiver box at each TV to convert it back into a usable t

Regarding TVCatchup, I already use it on Android for our tablets and phones as it's great for watching live TV when not at home. Hadn't thought of using it for this. Although I would still like to be able to get the TV signal to the TV. Plus I already have a NowTV box connected to this TV so can stream all catch up channels plus web services via apps, so it is only live TV I'm currently missing.

One of those Raspberry Pi XBMC things might do what you need but I've never looked into those, not yet anyway.

TV over Ethernet

Rf splitter to a HD set top box (a second unit separate to your main one) and a wireless HDMI audio/video sender (2.4ghz+) to send the TV signal including remote controller signals to/from your LCD TV...

EDIT: Not what you were asking and this solution isn't overly 'techy' but thought I'd drop it in the mix!

Yeah, that was my original idea, but when I'd tried wireless senders/transmitters to send a TV signal to another room in the past the image hasn't been brilliant. I might look into it some more now though. Only issue is the Now TV is already connected to the only hdmi input on that tv.

I also remember hotels are sometimes setup to provide the room tv services via Ethernet, so I'm going to look into how that is achieved.

My other option is to just hack the Now TV Box into a full Roku LT to adds more streaming channels and maybe Netflix.
