As the title says, I just received my uIEC from Retro Innovations. I formatted (FAT32) a 2Gb SD card, put a couple of files which are .D64, .T64, .PRG, some folders and files of the same types in there too.
Unfortunately the hardware didn't come with a manual, so I have no idea how to do a number of things.
What I have figured out so far is:

1. LOAD "$",8 gives me the root SD card contents
2. LOAD "FILENAME.PRG",8 works and loads the program, and when I type RUN, it works (yay!)
3. .D64 files do not seem to work with LOAD "FILENAME.D64",8 (it starts with LOADING but after a while the screen goes black and nothing happens until I turn off/on again)
4. .T64 files "seem" to load, but when I type RUN, I always get the error ?SYNTAX ERROR IN 24984. Maybe it's because these are tape files?
5. Files with filenames longer than 8.3 chars, do not appear to show up
6. Files with upper and lower case names, such as "Filename.D64" show a shifted letter for the capital letter, so can't be loaded either.

Long story short, I'm not familiar with what commands the uIEC device supports.
I tried the uIEC wiki commands, such as:

OPEN 15,10,15:INPUT#15,E,E$,T,S:CLOSE 15:PRINT E,E$,T,S

At least that worked and gave me 73 UIEC V0.10.0 0 response
I also obviously managed to change device number to 8 rather than the default 10 by following the vague instructions in the uIEC wiki, including surviving reboots.

So:
1. How do I change "floppy discs" to load and save files while in a program such as a music tracker?
2. Where can I find the uIEC drive commands that actually work?
3. Will JiffyDOS work directly with uIEC (I'd like to speed up loads/saves once I get this working), and what do I need other than this?

Thanks a million for any help you smart people can provide

Jaco

Hi.

Sd2iec has many docs, but really... it's hard to understand if you never touched one ;)

I cannot help you much, but I'll try to give you some directions...

- Use a browser to load games in D64 format (sd2iec, or fibr) (remember to rename to low case everything if using sd2browse).

LOAD"sd2brwse.prg",8,1
RUN

:)

- or rename it to make it faster to type: (ex: 1)
LOAD"1",8,1

- it don't support T64... (if I remember correctly)

- again, forget about typing, use a browser... :)

- to change discs you have to solder a two wire button to the board, and configure each game, creating a text file addressing the names of each discs used... (if you are very interested, I can search some examples I think I have...)

- jiffydos is compatible with sd2iec, and yes, you only need this rom you linked.

- jiffydos is very recommended, as it makes faster the loading of d64, and gives you macros to load and run the games/browser. (pressing F5 loads and run the first program in the SD card).

Regards.

Guys, thanks so much for this.
FileBrowser (fb.prg) is bloody superb.
Certainly makes navigating for more sanity-saving than these cryptic and long commands you'd need to type and figure out otherwise.
I loaded it up and selected ik+.d64, it opened that and I then selected the file within that directory listing. Next thing I knew (after some time loading) IK+ was up ang running! I almost cried with glee.

My uIEC version is version 3.x and already has 3 buttons on-board. From what I understand, S1 and S2 are implemented to allow you to navigate through discs, using an autoswap.lst file or something. I had previously created a couple of blank.d64 files to save my stuff to, so I'll experiment with these swap lists and see if it works.

Thanks all!
