Ebuyer Ive used for a while but more recently box.co.uk and cheaper than most for my laptop and nas drives.

its a shame the local shops are closing but we do have one left here https://www.lightning-computers.co.uk/ only ever bought a cheap pc case from him but nice to know.

pcworld doesnt count anymore and has very little if any pc parts. Maplin used to be my go to place for my hobby :(

just for ref I bought my A1200HD 85mb from Dixons back in the day.

Maplin? I love going there but closed down :(

Dixons? That another one I enjoyed going in and now it is gone.

PC World? They tend to be overpriced for PC System when you can build own PC much Cheaper!

Good to see new PC Links that would help me and everyone too for future pc upgrading :)

Back in the day, my local Tandy / Radioshack was the place where I purchased my very first Commodore 64C from. Sadly both long gone now but still fondly remembered.

Picked up a really high spec refurbished PC - 12700, 3080 1tb ssd, 2tb hdd etc, under price by £500 compared to brand new, from Laptops Direct.
https://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/

Really good communication, not just by email but phone to confirm order and delivery (and delivery was really quick even though I didn't pay for extra quick) and PC is great.

My last PC was an open box Stormforce PC and this is still great (just under powered for Little Hav's 3d Modelling work) so happy to take punt on refurb stuff. Plus with a tower, if something does go wrong, usually easy to fix/replace.

Here in the USA in my area we only have a MicroCenter whereas 20 years ago I had 3 or 4 other retail options. Kinda sad.

When I lived in Watford I used to use RL Supplies, not sure if they're still the company they used to be but it was great having them on my doorstep. My first PC build in 2000 ish, I blew up by putting a brass standoff in the wrong place lol. They rebuilt it for me at the cost of a new motherboard of course!

My most recent PC I bought the parts from ebuyer as were pretty competitive.

Will be a couple of years before I upgrade again...

Had Anyone had water cooler in their pc?

I used Air cooler as seem be more safety that but everyone is different.

@Amiga Forever Mine is the Cooler Master Saidon 120 V3 Plus. A bit fiddly to install but once up and running, gives a good overall result.

I have used both the AIO water coolers from Corsair and then a full blown EKWB setup which involves more work and expense. Both methods give better temps than air only setups. I guess it depends on what temps you're chasing though. Water cooling is mostly aimed at those who overclock their systems.

I going checked Cooler Master Saidon 120 V3 and seem interesting :)

Yeah I seem notice people do that but does have shorter CPU Life spans thought?

The CPU is getting crazy nearly 6GHZ as we come long way from good old days of Humble C64 1mhz to nearly 6GHZ of today!
Technology going Fast!

Running a CPU on the edge of it's thermal threshold for long periods would shorten it's life span, but when they are running in a good water cooled system they don't reach those temps.

The problem with aio setups.

in short heavy use you will see cooler temps and generally a quieter system especially when overclocked ( my old i7 2600k @ 4.4ghz )

But try and run a heavy cpu load for a length of time and your cpu will actually run hotter than a good air cooler because the water just retains the heat and you would need a huge radiator to make it efficient enough to dissipate the heat out if the water.

The reason aio seem to work is because when you game the gpu takes the load and any cpu heat spikes are buffered into the water.

Thermal dynamics heat into water is absorbed like a capacitor but it’s got to go somewhere its not magic.

To make water cooling make sense you need a piped setup with huge radiators and multiple fans.

There will be Desktop Computer or laptop on January Sales :)

I played Uncharted of PC and it ran well with 80FPS (My PC is X3700 with 2060 Super and 16GB Ram)
