This should definetly be mentioned on the online manual and probably somewhere else in bold since people will copy/move/delete files on the SD card constantly... and this will basically make the d64 files unusable and they will not work properly on UK1541 :(

No fix for this. Close disc with tape and check again in real drive
ehrm. you definately want to fix it. as said, a bunch of flip-disk detections rely on it. and even when the protection notch is taped, it should still be TWO transitions instead of one. (and then this should only ever happen when the disk is actually write protected by the sensor)

and yes, this filesystem stuff needs fixing definately (i am linux user, i dont have defrag.... and formatting the card all the time isnt an option)

- Fat32init crashes , fixed. error in BPB.
- Added support to 16GB SDHC cards (in testing)
Problem with:
>100 files in MAIN DIR checked and not founded with 16GB card, in theory maximal number of files in one directory is 4 milliards. I need to have example from user.
Time for directory initial scan grows with number of files. e.g 1 s for 170 files in directory.
>del copy problem...no I can not do this error with Windows Vista... only time to scan full dir is growing.

To sort files in directories, LINUX geeks: http://www.luisrios.eti.br/public/en_us/projects/yafs/
Windows users: http://www.anerty.net/dl/DriveSort_en.zip

PS. you need to have working card to update old software with new firmware.

question when, where is of course manual on-line.
I am working on wear factor for SD card and simply menu. Maybe tonight.

Here a short review after i get a working SD-Card to try my UK1541.

Pros:
The most games with fastloader work like a charm.

Also i think the quality of the UK1541/remote control/cables are absolutely ok.
For this price it's a recommend device!

The Problems:
I have always a white screen if a CR2032 is inserted.

I can’t mount some d64 images like California Games from ESI(The image work with sd2iec/vice).

The message „Can’t mount“ didn’t disapears if i mount another d64 image.
Edit + picture:
mount.jpg
Barbarian is already mounted.

If i use the 'original' filenames from „some d64 collection“ the UK1541 can't read the SD-Card.
This is not a problem with the fragmentation.

Suggestions:
I think the characters should be bigger on the small display.
Remove the logo and the content on the mainscreen - it should only show the d64 images.
After mount a image it should show (only) the content of the d64 image.

The joystick input should be debounced.
With a lot of joysticks it is very hard to handle the UK1541.

However i like the UK1541.

Thanks @ kisiel.

Plz forgive me for my bad english.

Please update your UK to version 0.40 , firmware will be available in few hours, it solve most problem with bootloader (mostly I remove breakpoints, software I made in 2013 works with SD and SDHC)

So I am waiting for positive comment in sales thread !

The Problems:
I have always a white screen if a CR2032 is inserted.

This is not a problem, in manual there is no info about battery till software for battery will be ready, battery low check, power profile etc ... ram of MSP430 will provide last accessed disk after power up.. like in real drive.

I can’t mount some d64 images like California Games from ESI(The image work with sd2iec/vice).

First for good feadback give a link to download files, if is d64 with error map UK will not mount file.

The message „Can’t mount“ didn’t disapears if i mount another d64 image.

Ok, simply bug with clean up windows, there is a plenty of bugs with GUI. I will check it and fix it now.

If i use the 'original' filenames from „some d64 collection“ the UK1541 can't read the SD-Card.
This is not a problem with the fragmentation
d64 with error map, prg tap .. not supported now. Please check if is better with new firmware

Suggestions:
I think the characters should be bigger on the small display.
Remove the logo and the content on the mainscreen - it should only show the d64 images.
After mount a image it should show (only) the content of the d64 image.

one of user suggestion was 8x8 font in folder display.. this is acceptable ?
Blind mode is already in TODO list.

The joystick input should be debounced.
With a lot of joysticks it is very hard to handle the UK1541.

joystick is already debounced with timer as mother earth said in best practice. I have two joystick and not a big problem to navigate... Please check if is a problem of joystick or simple... low amount files to show.

However i like the UK1541.
Thanks @ kisiel.

Thanks for feedback.

0.40 is with preliminary spin emulation of real drive, synchronisation checked with 1541-II (d500) double copier eksa. UK=>1541 ok, 1541=> 2xtime.

Also a positive feedback in the sales thread is done.

I hope i can try the new firmware soon.
And yes i think 8x8 should be acceptable.

I/We test it. ;)

Thanks a lot.

Tried the new firmware, initialization is much more reliable now!

Edit: scratch that, it's stuck on the version screen again. I've power cycled and reset it dozens of times and I'm not getting the file browser.

EasyProg hangs if I try to use a crt on the UK1541 as a source. After you select the crt file with enter the program freezes. Works fine on a real 1541.

First I need info about , have you tried old card on it. It stuck in boot screen after MSP430 line ? I need photo of the screen.

If I am right maybe simple do the core reset by right side button on remote control... If core6502 corrupt / hangs , UK boot loader will stop on boot screen after reset.

Easyprog, I have no special hardware for this tool. I made this tool runing on VICE , but I do not see any reason why it should not work. I need to have real Easy Flash to recognise a problem.

OK, 6502 core updated to 1.6. It seems to start more reliably, at least at the moment. When it gets stuck it's on this screen:

Could I make a feature request for the next version? Please hide and ignore all files starting with a . on the SD card. When copying files from a mac you get a bunch of .DS_Store, ._foo, .Spotlight-V100, etc entries on the drive.

If it stuck on it .. this means Core6502 is not in idle state, boot loader try to take control of core without success. It needs to be done like this to do proper core update. So do core reset and after GUI reset.
For filter I need more data, maybe is simpler to do filtering files by attributes. Small copy of partition would be nice.
How about SD card with FAT32, type SD or SDHC works ?? > 32GB works ???

Please fix the fragmentation issue. It is IMPOSSIBLE to add files and test stuff with fragmented partitions not supported. It means either to defragment the partition every time you delete/save something to it or to format and re-copy everything to it again. This is not acceptable. :(

I have som weirdness to report.

On C64-II it works fine.

On my C64, I get the update error screen from post #32, but only when the IEC-Cable is plugged in!
Without the cable, the UK1541 boots fine.
Tried it with different cards (FAT32, SDHC).
Without the cable, the UK1541 is rather useless though...

Ok, please give me more data, if UK boot to windows without cable, put cable back and check if device respond on any cmd , load etc.
If not, this means in your C64 Serial Reset line is low.

Just to clarify: You mean to plug in the cable into the running system after the UK1541 has booted?

Yes, to check if reset line is low. If yes you will not be able to send any cmd. "Device not present". Is logical if you change only MOBO... or do you have some custom rom ?

OK. I did that.
I booted the UK1541. Then inserted the "heaphone"-plug afterwards. It works fine this way.

However, I am not feeling to good "hot"-plugging the IEC like this.
