Hello Forum Chums

Just finished diagnosing a 1084 Monitor and found Delay DL6 to be the problem.

I'm hoping Mr Bates has one of these to spare but if not, does anyone have a dead 1084 chassis they can pinch the part off for me.
See Piccy, delicate sods too.

Thanks
:)

A friend gave me a D2 that was perfectly working but the lopt was used for another monitor... is this part present on the D2 as well? I can send it over if it is Bas

I'll have a looksie tomorrow when I am back at the office then... btw , is this the part Bas?

Thats the one buddy, but ensure it has the same part number as my piccy or it's delay time will be different.

Cheers

allrighty then, will report back tomorrow!
I think it will be the same as the same TDA4510 is used in all 1084s AFAIK... unless it's tied to the tube used , no idea

Your logic is spot on my friend...
The TDA4510 takes a certain time to process the chroma component, especially as it contains R-Y and B-Y sub components phase shifted by 90degrees..
The Luminance requires no further processing so in order to ensure the colour image sits on top of the black and white picture exactly then the Luma needs to be delayed.
How much depends on the chroma processor and you are right in this case it's the same chip

Cheers Buddy :)

heh, thanks for the explanation Bas!
I did spent some time reading the 4510/4570 datasheets as I wanted at some point to make the composite-input NTSC-aware (way more useful to me when combined with the ibm cga and it's composite output) but someone in a forum wrote that the crt panel could also be different and I could potentially get a flickering image. No idea if that's true and I kinda abandoned the mod atm... these 1084s are nice for retro uses but demand huge amounts of knowledge to service them...

IMPORTANT inof incoming lads,lol

the part your pointing at in the picture is NOT the part bas is looking for...but dont dispare it is there...

look to the right at the brown part of similar size, that is the delay line DL601...

ill put a pick up in sec,and keropi can remove it for bas

interestingly, these are only in the deawoo 1084's...so bas is luck, there not in the philips 1084 variants there is a delay line, but its not compatible
