I've been waiting around since I got hold of an A500 - pretty sure I'll be taking one off your hands. ;)

For US$69 (eheh, I said "69":jester:) I think lots of people will buy one or more.

Go ahead!

I would also get one for sure.
No way I'm putting an ACA500+ACA12xx combo outside the A500. Even cleaner solutions like A590 or GVP530 were making the A500 a train sized amiga).

Internal ftw

Hi All,

I have started the design for the 8mb A500 board with IDE, should be finished this weekend. Board will use the 4mb/8mb fastmem board and will fit in the CPU socket of the Rev6 boards and higher (and maybe the Rev5 board too) without interfering with case closure. The CPU adapter board can always be used for those hard to fit ones.

The board will have a CF socket. In order to keep the board size down i am leaving off the IDE 44 pin header as the circuit board is too busy. In order to keep costs down i have to use minimum 0.006" traces so that limits what i can do based on the size of the board. As a 2 layer board it is tough to get everything in. The board size has not increased all that much, i had to relocate the ram chips to allow for the CF card to sit on the top right of the board.

I am moving back to Thunder Bay in October so i will probably have more than usual on my plate. I'd like to at least get the first batch up and running before the move happens, we'll see.

Interested in 2 boards if its fits in a CDTV, 1 board if not ....

Can you confirm if it will fit an A1000 ? (might even have 3 then :D )

If this is going to be produced, then i'm definitely interested in one board. Count me in, please!

Hi,

It will fit in an A1000 and work with the A1000 adapter board (it just relocates it a bit so it doesn't interfere with the floppy cable

Might not be the ideal moment, but can you (Brian) modify the firmware slightly to have 4Mb fast and 1.5Mb in the ranger area?

Great work Kipper2k :) I'd be interested in 2 of your 8mb board's, it will be great to have a internal solution ;)

Hi,

It can be done using the same design i am using for the new A600 board. i didn't think of doing it this way as people can still use the trapdoor to enable RAM in the $c00000 area. The A500 will see all this memory as there is no PCMCIA slot that conflicts with the 8mb fastmem.

Yeah, but then people can ditch trapdoor expansions for good. :-)
