Using the "Rare" word in sales threads

Very little of what we see on here is genuinely rare. Blizzard 1230IVs are not rare, they are always changing hands, both here and That Other Place. Cyberstorm PPCs aren't really rare, they're just really desirable and command high prices.
I've you're selling a Commodore 65 or an Amiga 3500, sure it's rare, but let's face it, all your prospective buyers already know exactly what it is and how rare they are. You don't gain anything by pointing out how rare it is.
So, yeah, if you use the word 'rare' in your listing, you're basically a prune! That is my considered opinion on the matter.

LOL I also hate when people put rare or any variation of the word on a listing. As collectors, we know. To me, the word is only used as a justification for a high price.

I've had a couple of Amiga's from fleabay in some pretty poor conditions and almost brown/orange in colour but they worked and were cheap. Some of the prices of both hardware and software are getting way out of control though and there are mugs out there that actually buy these items
