Hi
I recently purchased a Vampire 500 V2. I have added a micro SD card to the board, from amigastore.eu pre-loaded with workbench 3.1 etc (link here https://amigastore.eu/en/789-workbench-31-sd-hc-edition.html#/ ). However, I can't see it. I can still only boot from floppy and loading Workbench from floppy there's no "hard drive" at all. HDTools doesn't show anything. Does anyone know what I need to do to get the SD card in operation?
Thank you!

I think the micro SD card is not seen like a normal IDE hard drive.
You have to add in Devs/dosdrivers the sagasd.device and a SD0 mountlist.
Try to format another sd card as FAT32 and check if it can be seen.

The best person to ask would be @majsta ...

However it does state on Amigastore.eu's website the following for the Vampire V2 board:

The current driver revision may boot from the IDE controller, but it is not able to boot from the MicroSD slot.

Ah, I got the Vampire from on here, not the amigastore.eu website :D
I can't find much info on majsta's website either, although it's not unlikely I'm just missing something.

A microSD card formatted to FAT32 can't be seen either. Does the microSD slot work for anything?

On what? This IS my drive. It's too big for my workbench floppy.

As you might have guessed, I'm no expert here!

Do I need an IDE to SD card thingy to get that functionality?
I hope so.
And you'll have to use IDE port, and not that tiny SD-slot on Vampire board.
I suggest you also to join the Apollo discord and ask there - there's a spanish discord channel too there so you might get help in spanish.
I have a Vampire for A600 and as far as I remember it boots only from IDE.
microSD slot on board is for an additional "hard disk" and not to boot the system.

ok.....IDE cable and IDE-to-micro-SD card on its way. I'll try again when they arrive.

Do you have to use the HDMI display? I have my Amiga connected to an old Amstrad CPC monitor.

If you use a "modern" system such as CoffinOS, or Apollo-OS, you will have to use the HDMI.
If you wish to use 3.1 - you said you got WB3.1 right? - you'll have to use SCART-RGB or VGA

I am WB 3.1. All I want is an Amiga that goes faster, has more memory and a HD solution, not bothered about "modern" OSes. So the CPC monitor is good!

I don't want start a controversy but...why didn't you get a GottaGo Fast Ram or something way cheaper and easier to use than a Vampire?
I mean...I think Vampire is for advanced use.
If you want to use a 3.1 for WHDLoad or games [no 3d graphics - no Internet etc etc] why di dyou get a Vamp?

Yeah you boot from the IDE and the SD card slot on the vamp is there for file transfers, you can set that up later and use an extender to the expansion bay if you want to be able to remove it easily.

You don't need to use the HDMI, you can use your Amiga with native screen modes as normal and just enjoy the accelerated setup.

I don't run coffin on mine, I use Workbench 3.1 but I do use the RTG and HDMI as I have it setup on a flat screen TV, you still need to use the native output for WHDLOAD games anyway.

If you get stuck I'll try to help.

Are you "vampirized" too?

I'm thinking that's what I should have done too. Might sell this one.

Yeah, see my project here: (I originally had the vampire in my A500+)

Hi there, let me sum up. First I wouldn't use microSD as boot device on Vampire accelerators because it will be much slower than on Vampire IDE. I have tested some microSD adapters and there is legit seller on ebay where I ordered mine, remember lot of fake ones:

Forgive me if post like this are forbidden.

If you still want to boot from microSD then please investigate this:

Problem with this already made, preinstalled cards is that I would have to get all of them to be able to confirm that they will work and this is not possible. People who made them always say what they work on "all" systems but I am not sure are they able to test what they made on "all" the systems. It is not realistic and tiny modifications could make difference and make some system slower or less compatible than other. Driver for MicroSD slot on Vampire card is part of SAGA package and without SAGA installed card can't be seen at all properly.
