Demolition & Hiddenevil, both of You are right at your own point of view.. This is like a going in circle: there is no software since the hardware is not powerfull enough, and there are no hardware since nobody writes new soft..However, Hiddenevil, You hit the spot, i was very dissapointed after i had a chance to meet AmigaOne 500. It started with a buggy Bios (Uboot) and non working USB keyboard, continued with numerous bugs with sata controller support, and finally, when system was up and running - i was confronted with the fact, that i should pay for a driver for my graphic card to be able to use my graphic card on a high resolution.. After all it turned out that all i can do with this system witout limitation - is to listen to mp3, i can not use this overpaid system daily, since internet browser is not supporting a half of modern internet pages, youtube inclusive, and is very slow..I guess my concern comes from the fact the whole project almost stopped a few months ago and if god forbid something happened again. What would happen to all those Vampire owners with thier partially working cards, would they still get support or be left to fend for themselves. Hopefully the software side would continue to trundle on. But as you said, you get what it says on the tin and you accept the risk, regardless of how pricey that might be.
I think that the current price for the current product is still very good value for money even if they never release another update for it. People pay more than that just for an 060 card, and that doesn't include any RTG card which is also quite expensive to get.. Yes, it is a lot of money compared to what we're used to pay for electronics nowadays, but the price on a hobby-project like this cannot be compared to the mass-produced stuff you find in the shops.
On the other hand - someone needs to pay for innovation, let it be the biggest fans of the Amiga system..
If You ask me - choosing the PPC as a cpu for os4.xx was a biggest mistake ever..
