@ keropi, i guess i can google for this, but you mentioned the permedia might not work in all systems. i've been running it in a p3 box and i'm getting vertical black lines and other glitches, just wondering if this is a sign of the incompatibility you mention or that the card is past it's sell-by date etc? last time i saw this sort of thing was with a banshee in a fic board, never did work out what was wrong though. the matrox seems fine btw :)

finding a pas16 doesn't get recognised in this board either [though plenty of other cards work fine] so i wouldn't be completely surprised if it was the motherboard being picky.

I have no idea what's the deal with it, it runs fine on a p2/440BX mobo I have, does not boot on another and freezes at the bios screen on another pc... I always assumed it was too picky...

That's interesting, I'll try it in my socket 7 box next time i take it apart. Shouldn't be too long.

Edit: Never mind, the black lines are gone now I'm in 2000. Some weird texture like everything's rendered on ingres paper, but that's probably driver, refresh, monitor etc. Guess the black lines are some VESA-type of issue maybe, got them throughout 2000 install and using DOS games and Windows 3.1, but not within 2000.
