Just received my long awaited Subway from Versalia and guess what they have not included the damn install disk in the package !
That is a poor schoolboy error in my book.:(

You've got a bigger chance to getting that disk if you contact Vesalia, rather than ranting here...

I have
It had to come out lol
And it states in the manual to check the package and it states there should be a install disk so information is the key here and I am a stickler for it.
Many thanks for links guys most appreciated:thumbsup:

There is no need for an install disk, support is built into Poseidon. A disk didn't come my Spider card, they just emailed me the (attached) driver.

But I hope I get the install CD for the BigRamPlus card I ordered.

Hi!

I think they just printed the old manual before you used to have a Disk with Key (I have two of them with my Subway's) but as the software is no longer locked I guess they don't need it ;)

If you need someone to put the drivers on a floppy for you I can help.
(to transfer the file)

Steve.

Cheers steve thats most kind:thumbsup:, just had another quick check and yes there is no mention of a software disk but on the flipside there is no mention of a link or nothing is mentioned whatsoever in their software downloads either.
I am not ranting its just poor information it could be better thats all and lets be honest in this techy age we live in it aint that hard even for a pleb like me:picard

Thread title typo fixed. The company's name is Vesalia.

You wouldn't use the disk if you had it anyway.
The disk shipped with the hardware contains an old version of Poseidon as the latest version is too big to fit on a single floppy.

Your really not missing out on much by not having the disk... you would still be downloading the latest version from Chris's website anyway.

EDIT: just for fun (and since we have been going stupid with grammar lately).
"Chris's" is actually correct. "Chris' " would be wrong in this case even though "Chris" ends in "s"... anyone know why?

Oh and some more useless trivia (on topic this time).
The subway card doesn't ship with a key file anyway. The card acts as a hardware dongle to activate the software.
Only exception is very early subway cards - these required a key file.

All this is irrelevant now that Poseidon doesn't require a key anymore.
Note, not requiring a key doesn't mean it is free... It is still commercial software. Your purchase of the subway also licenses you to use Poseidon.

@ bdb have you been knockin back on some of old grandpa`s cough medicine?

Just got my Vesalia shipment of Subway (OS 4.1 supported) and Nope, no "install disk" but I would never have needed one. I seem to have all the E3B drivers already; problem is what to connect it to, as in a Zorro card because I've got at least 3 options. Something to ponder.

Also got a BigRamPlus 256MB card (for half the price of my ZorRam card) -- no prices!! I'm going to swap out my 128MB CARD here -- the 128MB card takes out 256MB of auto config space, instead of 128.

Any non-demeaning comments?

Haha, you know me well enough now to realise I can't do that.

Anyway, ditch the ram card. The SCSI interface on your cyberstorm is faster, so if you need more memory set up some virtual memory using gigamem or something.

But for OS4.1, does setting up a swap partition work on classics? If so do that.

Doubt bigram plus is supported by OS4.1 and the zoram is only used for cache purposes or something like that.

Anyway, enough rambling from me. Have fun with your new hardware, mate.

1) I use both a RAM swap and a SCSI swap partition. Hyperion says RAM swap is faster and uses it before SCSI.

2) I do use a U320 15K Maxtor Atlas 146GB HDD that saturates the CSPPC bus.

3) Both ZorRam and BigRamPlus are supported as Swap in OS 4.1.

4) There are speed of access numbers for RAM types and HDDs on Hyperion forums.

5) I'm feeling upbeat that I made a good choice

Thanks for your concern, all positive (non-derogatory) comment are always welcome!!!

Yep the Subway is a brill bit of kit and setup nice and simple.
Took up fitzsteves offer of doing me a nice CW on a cf and he kindy put the usb stack on the os, so it really was plug and play.

@bdd I was only foolin with ya bud would not upset someone on purpose!
