Hi,

I need some help with a VXL030 I purchased. It was bought as working; however, I can't get it working in several different Amigas. I have three different mem boards I can try - black screen regardless of anything. The CPU pins are just fine - I am stumped. Can anyone do a repair for me?

Thanks,

Hi you might need to check if FPU are using its own clock, J2 jumper on pin 1-2 change if sharing the CPU clock, my board do not like brutal overclocked FPU, 25MHz unit trying to run at 40MHz... it gives black screen and no boot.
You can olso try to place an jumper on J1 to force the board to use origin CPU just to check functionality.

Hope this will help you to rectify the problem.

Do you have any good quality picture of the cards both sides, this so we do not need to guess. Also there are a factory repair wire on the backside of the card, than can give black boot screen if absent when trying to boot from 68k CPU but the card will operate when using 030-CPU. Do note some of the updates for the card are to make it fully compatible with RAM*32 or use higher CPU speeds than 25MHz, the update are done by changing some of the PALs on the board.

Check if there are NO contacts between the VXL*030 and the components below this may also lead to problems.

Check if it works w/o ramboard.. older VXLs needs an update to get ram to work. lucky.. I can provice this upghrade. I got some kits in my basement, that I can sell for 5eur+shipping if needed.
