Closed Wanted: SCSI CD Drive for my 4000D

I've just upgraded my 4000D with a WarpEngine 68040.

My plan is to use a SCSI HD and SCSI CD with it.

HDs all sorted and my old SCSI CD is now hooked up and working but it's toooooooooo bluddy deep and interferes with the air flow too much.

Anybody got a suitable SCSI CD drive for use on a standard cased 4000D for sale :?:

All SCSI devices will probably be the conventional size. It wasn't until we started getting LiteOn IDE devices that the smaller device lengths were coming out. On SCSI CDROMS, I don't think you will ever find one shorter than you have.

A Hacksaw could work well to retain the Air flow though!

Joking aside, measure your Length & I'll get back to you with mine! :twisted:

Just a thought.......

I just had the same situation with my system...... What I did was find a Lite-On brand IDE CDRW (these are nice and short) @ a local PC recycler for dirt cheap and then purchased a SCSI->IDE adaptor online and was very pleased with the results!

Worked well for me, however your mileage may vary.

The old NED CD units are shorter than any SCSI CD unit I saw in my whole life. Just bee warned they are dog-slow.

Their sizes are basically the same as an IDE device.

OK, with the help of my wife, I measured mine.

It lengths 20.5 cm :shock:

approximately 8 1/16" on old money. :wink:

210mm or 8 & 1/4" here. Plextors! :mrgreen:
