I don't usually post buying selling experiences as they can sometimes not be indicative of the norm, especially during trying times such as those we all have dealt with to one extent or another in 2020.
However, I now have had multiple experiences, all of which have been of the same nature, and so feel there is a troubling issue that I wanted to warn any other buyers about.
Djordje is the owner of the website Retroradionics. They produce many products, most of which pertain to the ZX Spectrum. I can attest that at least some of their products (the ones I have experience with) are of a very high quality and well designed. For instance, the ZX Spectrum Omni Laptop - a laptop style ZX Spectrum clone with SD Card slot and many other features.
The problem is, Djordje constantly promises dates that items will be sent (the ZX Spectrum Omni and many other products are perpetually on Pre-Order) and then constantly breaks these dates. I have dealt with this in the past when purchasing items from Djordje ( starting in 2018 ) and whilst not a pleasant experience, the items have always (in the past) EVENTUALLY been sent and received.
This same issue has been commented on by numerous other buyers to the extent that the comments sections of the XZ Spectrum Omni Pre-Order page was dominated by angry buyers complaining that their Pre-Orders are months overdue and they cannot get any email response from Djordje - this is the second problem. Djordje seems to just ignore any messages after the initial email giving an erroneous date as to when a lodged Pre-Order can be expected. As you can imagine, this only elevates the problem. The number of vocal complaints on the Retroradionics page must have gotten to such a point that Djordje removed all comments and also removed the facility to leave a comment.
Unfortunately, by this time I had placed another, and my last, order with Retroradionics for a second ZX Spectrum Omni Laptop. This order was placed on the 30tth of July after communicating directly with Djordje and being assured I would receive my order in September... it is now December 24th and I have been forced to open a PayPal claim to get a refund. Previous to this I was told the order would be posted in September, then late September, then October and then November.
I have sent about a dozen emails to Djordje over the past four weeks and to date have not received a SINGLE response. Yet, I know for a fact that Djordje is receiving and reading his emails as literally minutes after I was forced to open a PayPal dispute, I received an email from Retroradionics confirming that my order of July 30th has been cancelled..... though I have not yet received a refund.
I wish I could say this was an isolated incident, however it is not. Ignoring the dozens of complaints that were left on the Retroradionics website before they were all removed, I personally have had three purchase experiences with Djordje and they have all been similarly woeful escapades - this last one is just the worst of the three an indicative that things are only getting worse, not better.
Please note, I not advising anyone to avoid purchases from Retroradionics, the products that I have MANAGED to purchase in the past have been of a high quality and I am very happy with them. I just wanted to share my experiences so that others are able to make the decision for themselves if the purchase is worth the heartache involved.
Hope this helps others make an informed decision.
