@darefail

It's the members chance to vote ... use it or lose it.
You know that members would vote to delete all rules if they had the option to do so.

As for how many will participate in the vote... I believe that almost everyone here is only interested in buying and selling. They won't even notice there's a vote happening, unless you will place the word VOTE instead of the Amibay banner.
Of course, I could be wrong, but that's my opinion.

I vote to just leave it as is I do feel we will end up having more on our plate and feel there will be backlash from legacy members

However the best way to decide this is an official voting pole so members decide, maybe @comraider can set one up im sure we have done one before.

@kixs

We'll bend the rules ... just for you okay? But don't tell anyone shhhhh! 🤫

I can speak only for myself...

Whatever the rules, I will follow. But you should strive for a better experience. More rules is usually not the way.

If the consensus is to go with mandatory proof of ownership pictures then I will happily propose a revised rule regarding selling on here ...

If you wish to sell your items here then please also show within any and all photo's of your item(s) in the listing a piece of paper clearly showing the following 3 items of information:

1:- The word "Amibay" cleary displayed
2:- Your forum name
3:- the date the item is listed for sale

Failure to do so may result in either your listing being removed without warning, your account restricted for an indeterminate length of time, or both.

Repeat offenders may also have their Amibay accounts terminated. This decision rests entirely with Admin and is not open for negotiation.

There you go, job done. Everyone on the same page. Also cuts out the TL;DR excuse as well.

It was only an idea.

Our company for the evening has just left - time to create a poll to judge our members opinion on the matter.

The Poll is now open for you to have your official say

I voted against but I would happily follow if it was changed, I don't think anyone would particularly be upset by it, and if they are then tough lol. But yeah, getting it implemented could be a lot of work.

comraider is working on something that may be able to check threads for proof of ownership.

I say leave as is.

Your a dedicated scammer if after 10 successful sales and 50 posts you then rip someone off.

The proof of ownership just helps against a new member or a very low active member selling his/hers loft found a4000T for $1,000,000 bacs or western union only.

It won’t fully stop it but the method we use “proves ” the item for sale was/is in the possession of the seller at the time of the listing

Nothing says it’s also being sold multiple times elsewhere and a scam but it stops random pics from eBay or the likes being used to sell here a bogus item.

I have noticed that some members who don't need to provide proof of ownership are actually posting it :)

Is it time that we made all members provide proof when selling items?
This would instantly solve all mentioned issues If all members were required to provide proof of ownership.

Also, I have always been in favour of all sales requiring a picture of the item they are selling, which I have voiced a couple of times, so proof of ownership goes hand in hand.

I'm fine either way though (y)

Maybe a bit off topic but i find equally important the proof of functionality. Sometimes the word "working" is not enough..

Just wondering what will this solve? It seems just more paperwork for nothing?

This can be archived the other way.
Feedback maybe over 30 or 50 and posts over 100-200.
This way frequent sellers or generally active members are not affected.

I just joined yesterday and first thing went to look at the FAQ, which says:

This is to be in the form of a photo of the item with a piece of paper showing the 1:- forum name, 2:- your forum name and 3:- the date the item is listed For Sale.

Which didn't make sense to me even before I saw this thread. I know for certain that I'd have posted without the "Amibay" text requirement if I hadn't seen this thread.

(Assuming I'd post something, which I'm no longer sure about.)

It's great that you actually read the rules, or at least some of them, not all new members do.

This is the part where I mentioned (in my other post to your introduction) , about how some members have trouble following the rules for one reason or another. Some members don't understand them or agree to them.

The rules are here for a reason, to protect yourself an other members. If you do not want to follow them, then maybe Amibay isn't the place for you.

some members have trouble following the rules for one reason or another.
When the reason is that the FAQ says they should post their forum name, forum name and date the item is listed, while apparently (according to this post) they should post the forum name, date of photo, and "Amibay", that's a pretty good reason to have trouble in my book.

Edit: I assume that the first "forum name" is meant to say "Amibay" while "your forum name" means the username. But this certainly isn't clear, and I think it's a source for confusion.

Drop the forum name from the proof of ownership requirements?

Could prove beneficial as we already know where the item is up for sale.
