Hello! I am just wondering if its possible to emulate the wrap3d side of the blizzard on a PI and pistorm in my 1200 tower? Blizzard cards are rare and costly and wanted to use some demos and games on the build. I will get a blizzard phase 5 one day when i can get my hands on one at a reasonable price, but for now want to know if i can be done with the setup i have? Its got the daughter board with pci and zorro 2 and Amiga Infinitiv modified A1200 motherboard working with Zorro2 board Mediator. I have the pistorm and various PI 3 and 4 also m.2 ssd from ide. Any pointers gratefully received.

Edit:
Okay. First off. Rule out Amiga OS 4.1FE, unless you plan to run this on a Blizzard PPC or Cyberstorm PPC card (A4000, A3000). That OS is a PowerPC only Operating System. Can be emulated on PC with WinUAE. Or you can buy PPC Amiga Next Gen systems at over £1000!

I believe a WipeOUT 2097 version was ported over to work on PiStorm a while ago, so you no longer need a PPC card and Warp3D. Again not sure, so will need to do some research in this.

The PiStorm does have a native RTG built in, so technically you don’t really need to go RTG with a PCI card. With AGP card, then how are you looking to get this connected up to a PCI slot?

It's pci not agp my PC and amiga brain are mixed up lol

Warp3D as far as I am concerned isn’t dependent on the Accelerator. It’s down to the Graphics card used.
I think you maybe thinking about the Phase 5/ DCE Blizzard 040 or 060 with PPC cards, that can use the BlizzVision 8MB Permedia 2 Graphics card that connects straight up to the BPPC board with the use of P96 or Cybergraphx RTG setups with the card driver.

With other Legacy (Blizzard, Apollo etc.) and possibly some of the newer Accelerators, these will work fine with Towered A1200 setup’s with Mediator 1200 boards and even older Busboards. Then it’s down to RTG (Graphics PCI card) such as Voodoo 3, 4 or 5 PCI cards that will work with Warp3D. Note ATi 92x PCI cards have no Warp3D support on Amiga OS 3x but does on Amiga OS 4.1FE.

The issue you will have is down to the PiStorm playing nicely with a Daughterboard such as the Mediator boards. When I last tried a setup with a A1200 using the PiStorm firmware. The DMA setup of the PiStorm wouldn’t play nice with the Mediator.

Unfortunately Warp3D is owned by copyright I believe (AEON?), with no mention of further development. For the PiStorm it uses something called Wazp3D, which is a software based version of Warp3D.

This why a few of us end up with different Amiga setups.

Will be interested on other responses to see what developments have been on the PiStorm.

Thanks for the info! I do have ATI Radeon 9250 128 MB Universal AGP Video Card TV-Out VGA DVI card spare. Do you thinks that would be good enough if i installed OS 4.1FE or would you recommend a better card? Just doing my research before building the tower. Im going to try the pi 3/4 to see if i can get it to play. I have always wanted to play wipeout 2097 like on the ps1 to see if its good! Also been looking at 3dfx voodoo 3 cards but again they go for a lot of money. Cheers

I think there was someone working on porting Warp3D to PiStorm, I'm not sure how far along that got though.

Currently with the Mediator it's not possible to Run Warp3D even with an appropriate graphics card on the A1200 with a PiStorm due to no MMU support.

Oh well ppc blizzard card then. Have a few 1200s in the upgrade stage some with original cards some pistorm etc. I'll have a look see what I can get. Thanks

Wanted to do it with real hardware as got a collection of Amigas and cards
You can with a PiStorm 😉👍🏻

rewrite

## Requirements

- Very fast CPU, actually playable only on WinUAE and Pistorm with Cm4 (Wazp)

and on PiZero2/Pi3 with new warp3D.library by paraj (needs to set depth to 32)

- Warp3D accelerated card or Wazp3D software

- Quartex in WinUAE recommended or VooDoo 3 emulation

- 32MB of RAM

- DATA from PSX and DOS version included
