I often wonder this - considering how much 060 boards for the A3000/A4000 sell for, why has nobody developed a modern one? It can't be rocket science surely, just a small PCB, CPU and a few components? The CPUs themselves can be picked up for very little, so there would be a huge mark up on each unit, and with the amount of people wanting one there must be a market to sell dozens if not hundreds. Amigakit/Vesalia - get on with it!

I can provide a first batch of the two PCB (upper board and bottom board) for 25€ both + 3€ for shipping.
Please note that I'll provide the PCB only with no components on them. You have to provide the components by yourself and solder them on the PCBs.
I need 30 days to have available the batch of 10 kit (bottom PCB + top PCB)
Let me know if there are 10 people interested.

Only the PCB no other component.

I'm up for one kit.

I opened a thread for booking the PCBs kit (no components will be provided).
Please book here https://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?64890-Amiga-WarpEngine-68040-68060-adapter&p=633942#post633942

no way I can make one work....I have no soldering skills :(
Maybe in the close future someone offers assembled kits...let's hope that happens! but it is really cool you offered to provide the pcbs!

Interested in one too. I will PM tonight from home. Many thanks.

I have read the thread on EAB. It is very interesting. From a difficult begining where the idea seemed impossible, you guys finally managed to build this very useful adapter. I always find these things amazing and surprises me a lot. The Amiga community is very lucky to have these hard working smart guys improving things all the time.:)

Very desirable piece of kit! Some questions if I may:

1. What's the repeatability of this project. How many folks have built one (or more) working units for A3640s and Warp-Engines?

2. Once installed does the adaptor setup require any additional libs, patches, custom ROMs, GALs, PALs, custom wiring, cut traces?

3. What speed memory can be used, e.g. 70ns or quicker?

4. The items for sale here are for the PCB only. Is there a component list anywhere?

All the best,
Ed.

Does it make any difference what the nominal speed of the 060 is?

All very good questions! ;)

If only people had asked these questions before declaring interest in the group PCB order thread... :picard

In response to some recent PMs and to save myself from repeating this answer:

Q: Any chance on getting my hands on your exec.library for the Mozart 060 adapter?

A: I'm leaving that up to Cosmos for 2 reasons:

1) He's doing the final beta testing on systems I don't have (e.g. A4000 & A1200).
2) I consider the patch code as my gift to Cosmos.

P.S. Just in case you have not been reading the A1k.org thread, Herr Thor (the well known German Amiga coder) has major objections to anyone making and distributing unofficial exec.library patches...

Hi I'm just asking here so I get it right in my head. From what I've read I don't need to use the modified exec.library if I use the EC version ? I'm hoping I understood every thing I've been reading as I hopefully have a XC68EC060RC60E coming and Google translate isn't always the most accurate :p.

By the way I emailed UTSource and asked a rough price for 50 x XC68EC060RC66E in case someone decided to do a bulk buy and they came back with $29.98 each in stock, didn't think that was to bad tbh.

Lol well I guess that's down to the individual, for me it was very cheap I.each. Just postage ;-). And it will give me something to test with until we get a yea or nay on the library.

Please someone correct me if I am wrong, but you won't need a patched exec.library if you have no FPU (i.e. the EC version).

That's my understanding. Therefore I got an EC version of 060.

The patching of the exec.library method of disabling the FPU does this cause for instance WHDLoad to not work? Does anyone have just a general list of software they've tried with this adapter? I'm most likely misunderstanding this but because of the need to disable the FPU via the exec.library method, it is not possible to softkick after that unless you patch exec for every softkicked rom you might load? If that is the case has anyone tried patching exec in 2.0 or 1.3 roms?

Don't expect WHDload (and the software it loads) to have a high degree of compatibility with the 060. Kickstart 1.3 doesn't even support the 040 (but with some patching in some cases it can work with the 040). Any software that's been working OK with the 3rd party 060 accelerators will work with this adapter.

The reason for upgrading to an 060 is to get maximum 68K performance not maximum 68K backwards compatibility. ;)

Any version of exec.library compatible with the 040 will need to be patched. The alternative is to build a Zorro2 board with Diag code at $F00000. Softkicking requires booting from a custom ROM (with patched exec.library) or a Zorro2 board.

I realize that anything not normally running on an 060 will not run on this I just wondered if there was a gotcha here somewhere with the patched exec method of disabling the FPU, like WHDload not working when it normally would with a normal 060 board. Has anyone fired up Shapeshifter or done a few full cycles of Sysspeed with the adapter? Are the Phase 5 060 libs the only ones to use with this? Or is Cosmos working on a new set of his? Oxypatcher or Cyberpatcher working?
