Luba (the Host) went on to do the "Royal Canadian Air Farce" TV show from 1973-2009 (although the troop is still doing CBC new years Specials). She is actually very funny doing skit comedy.

Billy Van is another famous Canadian Comedian, he did the kid's show "The Hilarious House of Frightenstein" were he did 90% of all the Characters, "Bizarre" and a whole bunch of other Canadian Comedy shows

Also, the guy from HP sounds like this guy from Commodore. Looks kind of the same, but according to the dates, its only 2 years between them.

These are always so addictive to rewatch. I've got hundreds of episodes from shows like this and its dangerous to watch one because you will suddenly find yourself still watching it at 3am and 10 episodes in. :lol:

These are definitely a lot more educational than any of the rubbish made for our kids these days. When did a TV program last actually explain the workings of a computer to children? Technology may have moved on in terms of size of look, but every term and way of working mentioned is still just the same today.

You do have to laugh at the size of the HDDs shown in that episode though. Although their size really makes them practical for demonstration purposes. And I still remember one of by 6th form professors still used those 8" floppy disks on his IBM in 1991!

I've seen them all as well (bits and bytes).

It is so fun to see the computers i've never used (apple ii, atari 8 bits, trs-80, pet) in action. kind of make me feel my childhood with the c64 was inadequat in terms of being an advance computer. they only used it in a sound demo, beside that the 80 col displays of the other computers and the more advanced basic was probably reasons enough. cool they also had bits from the xerox machines. wonder how people thought when they saw a mouse being used and probably didn't see one in real life for years.

But i have to say the program made me lust back to the years of the past. Computers were more exciting back then.

I couldnt agree more......The computer games of 80`s and 90`s blew my Mind thanks to C64 and Amiga:)

Graphics isnt be all and end all but you only have look at Last Ninja or Turrican 2(C64 Version) and it show you that It doesnt have to be LOADS of Colours to impressed us. I dont know how many Colours were on screen at Once for Last Ninja 2 or Turrican 2.

I am sure some people here will tell me :)

For me (and many others I'm sure) there's another aspect to this - most of my best friends since childhood, I've met thanks to computers.
Owning a computer back then felt like being in a special club :)

I look at kids today & see nothing similar, a computer these days is just something everyone has, a "tool".
I miss the 80's :(
 
So true. We witnessed the evolution of computing. Everything already exists for children of today and they just use it without appreciating it.

In the 80's we knew that each new game release might be something completely original, revolutionary and special. We witnessed the creation of whole new game genres and the leap in hardware abilities with each new generation provided a far larger jump in capabilities every couple of years than we ever witness now.
 
All we get today is faster/more core cpus
and more faster and shiny graphics

then we was amazed how we could get our name to fill the screen or to make a beeping sound from writing a few commands in.

We should have an easy programming language in every computer nowdays as well. Back in the day you got basic in your face. so it's hard not to start trying the different commands. you find it interesting and years later programming your passion .. and profession. ;)
 
Wow, I havent seen Bits & Bytes since i was in primary school in the 80's!

Im gonna be watching more of these for sure! :cool:
