As some of you might know we have a bank holiday here in the UK this weekend, a nice elderly lady who we call the Queen has a special anniversary!

Anyway it's miserable and wet out so I've been busy setting up my Amiga's in my new office (or man cave lol) the spare room, Mrs Fitz has had enough of Amiga's in the front room :picard

Well that's a small lie, I can keep the A4000T in the dining room

Oh and some Games Consoles too :D

Just wondererd what ya'll up to this weekend if the weather stays wet :(

Steve.

im messing with aros on a 800mhz via mobo, android 86x on vmware and mac os 10.7 too on vmware

but really need to strip my cg125 down and sort out for mot in a week

Wet and miserable here too.

I've been arranging more soldering and restoration work for my A530's and replacement keyboards.

I'm now working on a new capacitor replacement list for my A500+. Need to find out if I can mix original voltage caps and also higher voltage caps at the original uf rating on the same board.

Shes so demanding this old girl :p

In in the process of my next project ..... what I'd like to call a Super A500 Plus :)
It's been horrid weather, and to top it off, my iPhone is now buggered completely.
One major downfall of the iPhone is the battery is not user-replaceable.
Last time I opened my iPhone 3GS to replace the screen, I vowed NEVER to open the thing again (it's not an easy task) and hence don't want to do that again.
May sell the thing as spares/repairs.
Some of you will know that said iPhone was playing up when I was at the Amimeet, now it won't hold barely any charge :(

not much, just working and reading the posts on eab and amibay when i have a break or ten lol.

Me and Becks went to Derby Makers Fair and watched 3D printers, pen plotters and soldering lessons. Was a good day! Then went a walk round Derby for a bit before we got wet and cold. Back home now, chilling after ordering an Arduino to play with off ebay :)

When I acquired the A500+
So far, I've done the following:

  • Swapped 68000 for 68010
  • Swapped 2.04 ROM for 3.1 ROM
  • Installed CF 2 IDE card reader and CF card in an AlfaPower IDE side car - CF reader was already present, I've put a 4GB card in it.
  • Said AlfaPower sidecar is full with full 8MB RAM - this was already present in the AlfaPower side car
  • A500+ has a 1MB CHIP RAM expansion in the trapdoor slot (so now total CHIP RAM is 2MB) - this was already present in the A500+ when I got it
  • Dangled an IDE cable out the back of the AlfaPower - I've now got an IDE CD-ROM drive connected
So, I've now got the full 10MB supported by the A500+ (not sure if max RAM is higher on the 68010 or not, but the 68000 can only address 10MB iirc)
Boot time is VERY quick for an A500+, really impressed, it boots almost as quick as my A1200 with 4MB FAST and 4GB CF card

I have an Indivision ECS on my 'wish list' for siad A500+ and not sure where to go from there.

It's now got all my usual stuff installed, WB3.1, WHDLoad, AMOS, AmigaE, DPaint and OctaMED - I love this damn thing now.
Some people don't like the A500+ but it's my favourite model of low-end Amiga as it's the one I had throughout my teenage years.

Not far from mine then. Got the 3.1 rom, but using an A530 (if I ever get it finished!) which has 68030, 68882, 8Mb ram, CF card kit inside and a 2mb ram upgrade too.

:)

Nowt wrong with that.
I went up the shop, my shopping list was as follows:

  • Coca Cola - 1.5ml Bottle of
  • Snickers (or shall I say 'Marathon' - that's it's proper name damn it!)
  • Chicken Samosa - 2 of
  • Pork Scratchings - 2 of
  • Nice & Spicy Nik Naks - 1 of
  • Terry's Chocolate Orange - 1 of
  • Sausage Rolls - 6 for the price of 1 pund :) I love it when Co-Op have deals on!
  • Some random pastries
  • a Tesco Mobile top-up of 10 quid
So, my shopping list isn't great

I've always found the GVP A530 to be too expensive. If I find one in my budget, I may get it.

I did to begin with, but when I thought some more its not too bad. It takes care of upgrading the CPU, adding an FPU, adding loads of memory and of course a full HDD system. If I tried to do all those separately it would cost just as much if not more.

Plus I'd be reluctant to try and lever in a 40 mhz 68030 into a 500+ base unit lol

Nice healthy looking meal you bought their Woody!

My long weekend so far been taken up by baby Thomas.. And today helping my wife settle the baby, then getting in the car and driving for 2 hours to my mother-in-laws for dinner and watching the flotilla on TV. Then a 2 hour drive back, eating some tea, helping burp the baby and then a bit of time on the computer before I go to bed.

Tomorrow we are relaxing for the day and not doing much. Then Tuesday we are doing it all again by going to my parents for dinner and to watch the festivities on the TV.

I'm supposed to be dieting, but today I though "f**k it!" and ate some proper unhealthy stuff ..... hell, it's the bank holiday weekend!
We hadn't been food shopping as I intend to do that either tomorrow or Tuesday.
I go back to work on Wednesday, has everybody else got Monday and Tuesday off?

<SNIP>

Not exactly.

You can still add 1.8Mb (1.5Mb in real world) in the Ranger memory area. Catching a trapdoor card to do so will be a tad hard.

Really? WOW! Commodore didn't tell us about that in the A500+ manual! According to that, it says 10MB max, but I'm happy with that as it should be enough for just about anything I can actually run on an A500+

Well today i've been really lazy and just watched TV all day.

Tomorrow i'm hoping to move in to the back room which is currently not being used so will make it my room and once that's done i plan to try and rehouse my power tower into the black boing ball tower i got off Justin recently.

For the rest of the week i'll just be counting down the days till kick off of Euro 2012. I know not all are football (or chavball as i've heard it called) fans but i am.

pub, sleep, pub, more sleep, dam missed the call of the mad woman, pub sleep

spose I better eat some time ;)

- Chillin'
- Doodling with a tune on the keyboard.
- Thinking about doing some more DIY.
- Reading threads on Amibay with a nice cuppa (Yorkshire Gold tea bags, best ones I've tasted in years!!)
- Playing with the new Tivo box and 100Mb super hub.

I have to be honest I don't watch the news and didn't know there was a bank holiday until yesterday.

@Cosmic, drinking a pint of Guiness is supposed to be like eating a meal, so there you go, sorted! not keen on it myself tho .

Well I still have some things to sort in my office but we're going to wonder down to the village and see if their Monday Fair is still on

Then off to the shops to find a new Camera to replace the one the Missus' broke!
