I thought it would make a fun to make a thread to post screens of indie productions that the Amibay community are playing.

Especially if they're on the Amiga too!

I know that it's for the Dreamcast (and NeoGeo), but I recently purchased Gunlord.

I've yet to load it up yet as my Dreamcast is in the cupboard behind my cupboard which has a few towers of Master System games I'm currently working my way through. (excuses excuses).

I've decided that today is the day that I get the Dreamcast out and play it, and thinking about this made me consider how little I'm aware of an indie scene these days.

I only discovered Gunlord thanks to users (Retrograde and Mendel) on here singing its praises.

Gunlord is a Turrican-clone by NG: DEV.TEAM, and it looks very good. The packaging artwork is very nice too!

Here are some images I found via Google search. I intend to create some of my own before the end of next weekend.

I wouldn't classify Gunlord as Indie, since it's not on modern systems (yet) - more like homebrew.

Playing "One Finger Death Punch" on 360. Great, great game! :)

Also still improving on Super Hexagon from time to time - best game on iOS.

If Gunlord isn't indie then what is? It's as independent as it gets, two brothers make a game for a system over a decade old and people pay full price for it... that is the definition of indie to me. Then the game is so well received Nintendo want it on the Wii-U...

Does anyone know if it's possible to buy Dux for the DC from any online stores? (physical copy with packaging). Also where is Gunlord being sold? it doesn't appear to be in the NG Shop.

Sure it's a question of definition - and mine differs :)

Gunlord is out of print at the moment.

You can get Gunlord on ebay but the price itself I bought was £36 and it is really good but it is quite hard game!

I meant the same thing by Homebrew and Indie, but since pedantry has reared it's smugly (PORTMANTEAU!) head, time to get some facts straight:

  • [*]Indie - Indie developers are developers without the money-oriented control of the usual big publishers e.g. EA, Sega, Microsoft, etc. Indie developers will typically work with friends, have day jobs and work from home.

[*]Homebrew software - Software produced in a typical family home

You mean semantics of course, while you're now being pedantic ;) :run:
