Oh, I know HDs cost a lot more prior to that, but it is still quite a shock to see how much we paid for such small HDs (by today's standards).
I remember when the first 10MB HD came out for the ST and it cost £999.99. Now that was quite mad when you think it could only hold about 12 floppy disks worth of data. About the only usefulness was to boot the OS quickly, although with that already completely in ROM on an ST it wasn't even used for that. Held a few images for DTP work I suppose.
I wonder if we will think the same in another 20 years looking back on current prices? I expect so. A 1TB drive for £69 sounds like a bargain now, but we might be using a completely different storage medium in the future. SSD's are already gaining momentum as the technology is developed, with 500GB units now available at a price. But I can't see even that lasting for ever as out data storage requirements continue to grow faster all the time.
