Philips G7000 Videopac or Ti-99/4A I think. I binned the G7000 a few weeks ago as it was all rusted from being in the attic for years. I still have some cartridges for that one. I also still have the Ti-99/4A.

Commodore Plus 4.

Managed to get around 100 games for it, before I got a C64, and was the machine that I learned BASIC programming on it... Think I spent as long programming BASIC on it, as I did playing on it!

I regret selling off my mint TI 99/4A years ago. In fact, I also regret selling off many other vintage items, but I won't ask you to lament with me.

ZX Spectrum 48k was left to me in 1982/3 after my grandpa died. I remember being shown how to load up games such as Pool, Rommels Revenge and U Boat...then, like so many others, got into programming in BASIC where making a charactor move around the screen using INKEY$ made me feel ontop of the world...

/The simple pleasures of a 7 year old.

Just last month I've found my whole collection of C90 knackered tapes. I transfered to whole lot to PC where I corrected the levels etc before outputting it back into my original ZX Speccy...what wonders turned up!

Not sure if it counts but my first experience with a computer was at school, they had few ELWRO 800 Junior. I learned some programming on them.
HOwever my first own computer was ATARI 65XE and tape drive XC12, it was bought for me by my aunt and uncle from Australia. I still have the receipt for it from PEWEX shops. LOL.

Amiga 500+

... though thinking back, I mainly used it as a games machine. Never did much serious stuff on it if I recall. (HDDs cost a bomb back then!)

hahah ja piernicze,

thats awesome yeah i got mine from pewex as well, i remember my mom did wait about 4 hours in line to get one.

Spectrum 16k/48k (rubber keys) can't remember which of the 2 it was, bought it from dixons and it broke within the first few months. Dixons did a straight swap for a 128k :D

ZX81 in 1981, for my 14th birthday :)

Started work at 16, heaven knows how much I spent on these damn things since...

ZX Spectrum 48k rubber key version was the first family computer.

My first machine was a Sega Game Gear but it in terms of the first computer I ever owned, it was a Pentium 100mhz second hand from Rumblelows (remember them?) :)

<snip> Rumblelows (remember them?) :)

My cousin bless her cotten socks was manageress in Boston for a long time. I bought all my electrical stuff through her.

My first computer was a good old Amiga 500 which I bought back in 1992.

Actually it was a stripped down Amiga 500+ which is indeed a "plus" since there was no damage to the board due to the battery not being installed.:) Surprisingly the board already had a high res denise installed.

I soldered the missing parts and ram some weeks ago (used a CR2032 instead of the dangerous Varta battery), added a 1 meg expansion and a kickstart switch with 1.3 and 3.1 roms.
My Amiga 500(+) now has 2 meg chip ram.

Next comes a hard disk... and and and...

Way back then I had a friend who bought a 286 with a green monitor. While we were playing Kings Quest and I heard the god awful sounds coming from the PC Speaker, I secretly patted myself on the back for not buying one of those. I loved my C64. It was superior in every way to a PC back then for games. (back then we didn't call them that though...we called them DOS Boxes, or IBMs) The c64 had full color and realistic sound. PC gaming didn't actually get good until the advent of the Sound Blaster and VGA graphics. Shortly before Doom came out. But even then I would rather play at a friends house and keep my Amiga than get a lousy DOS Box. Keep in mind that I only ever used computers as a gaming machine. Now I am not as snooty about it...I love games. But I have a special place in my heart for my the C64 and Amiga because those were my weapons of choice. I will freely admit that I did miss out on some good games that were exclusive to DOS by being a C= elitist but whatever...I have an old PC now to experience these games. Jazzy Jackrabbit, Shadow Warrior, Police Quest, Full Throttle, Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle...there's a few more.
