I got a C64 with tape deck in 88 and even though I was a bit thick when it came to programming it still braught me a huge amount of pleasure.

I then was given an A1200 for christmas when it was launched, oh so many hours of fun :)

First Computer was a Commodore VIC20 at Xmas 83, Really wanted a 64 but my parents could not afford it......Had great fun with the Vic esp learning a bit of basic through the Gortek and Microchips package, and playing the Gorf cartridge and Quakers and Terminal Invaders on Tape......By the end of 84 the VIC scene had fizzled out and I badgered my mum to get me a Spectrum 48k.

I loved the machine as all my mates had Speccy's at School so my library grew quickly.

The Speccy died in 88 so I got a Spectrum +3 at Xmas 88 which just carried on my Speccy usage.

By this time the 64 bug was still with me, and finally after saving some money when I got my first job I got a 64, and realised then what I had been missing :-)

between 89-92 the 64c was in constant use until I got a A500 cartoon classics pack in Autumn 92 and Upgraded to a A1200 a year later

Happy times :-)

1st Games console in 1977/79 Acetronic MPU 1000
2nd Games console in 1979/81 Intellivision

My 1st Computer 1982 Dragon 32, My parents bought it on the basis that it had more ram than the commodore vic 20 and a "Proper" keyboard not like the ZX Spectrum 48k, Oh! I wish I was at the shop when they decided what to buy lol. but I loved the dragon 32 even though I was the ONLY one at school with one,, needless to say I saved up my pocket money + Birthday money and bought a 2nd hand C64 as soon as I could probably around 1984.

In 1988 my parents bought me an Amstrad cpc 6128. Two best friends that lived nearby had the same. So we exchanged every game he had. Actually back then, I made a simple basic text adventure game in the 6128 with screenshots. These were made with the art studio program.

I loved this computer, but in 1990 a went to visit a friend. He told me that he had bought another, better computer. And I remember that this day I was astonished with the graphics and sound of the Amiga 500. The first game I saw was Shinobi and after that Wrath of the demon. My parents got me an A500 after a couple of months.

Commodore plus 4 was where it all started for me. First game I remember playing on it was Fire Ant, don't particularly miss it though i was a bit too you to really appreciate computers back then.

16K Issue One Spectrum. Still have ...erm ... most of it.

Had a bit of a temper in my youth when playing games. Destroyed a few joysticks in my time - and this Speccy. Ended up with a dent in the case after four months of pounding. It was actually my dad's so I guess my first computer was an Atari 800XL in 1985, with 1010 tape deck and 1050 disk drive.

First computer was a Commodore 64C, 1701 Display, dual 1541-II drives.
First console was NES 8-Bit.

My first computer was a sinclair zx81with a massive 1k of memory..this was bought on the suggestion of my teacher at school when I started computer studies....I used to spend hours programming on it then got to the stage where I needed more memory so had to get the 16k memory pak for £50 which was a lot of money back then. .......it was fun back then.....I then upgraded to a vic-20.......

Oh happy days....

Ahh.. I remember it well. Going to WH Smiths in Liverpool for my first ZX-81. A whole 1K of fascinating bliss. Entire evenings were lost with that computer.
It was soon upgraded with a Memotech 16K RAM pack, less wobbly than the Sinclair item so protracted games of Mazogs and 3D Monster Maze could be enjoyed.

After that, the natural progression was to a 48K Speccy, bought from Rumbelows. This only lasted a month or so before it went wonky and apparently there being a bit of a shortage for replacements, so the deal was I could swap it or another machine, the choices being a Dragon 32 or an extra chunk of cash for a C64. Being not exactly wealthy, buying all the above took a shedload of saving up from my milk round, garden chores and washing cars, and besides I was pining for *anything* computery at the time, I got the Dragon for the time being. Still fun, but felt a bit left out as my mates had Speccys, so a bit more saving, swapping and changing got me back to the Sinclair side of things.

Besides, at my school at least the C64 wasn't *that* popular compared to the Speccy. I suppose working class Liverpool where I grew up was not exactly awash with spare cash and with the 64 being the more expensive (from what I remember) option the ZX was the popular choice. It turned into a bit of a class thing, us commoners had Speccys whilst the posh kids had 64's or, *deep breath* BBC B's with esoteric devices like dedicated CUB monitors and floppy drives.

Ahh.. The distinctive rattle of a C90 cassette in a blazer pocket. Bring a nostalgic tear to a glass eye, that would.

Strictly speaking, my first computer was my Commodore 64 C, which had the Mind Benders and Night Moves game bundles included with it. It was the only computer in the household until we got our first x86-based machine in early 1996! I still have my C64, it still works, and I still love it. Most of my tapes still work, too, and I plan to sit down with my USB tape-deck and digitise the lot, at some point in the near future. I got an SD2IEC for it recently, and it was a real blast playing newly-made games on it for the first time in decades.

Technically speaking, however, my first computer was an Amstrad CPC 464 Plus, as that is the machine that I actually got for Christmas in 1990. However, it quickly turned out that the Plus wasn't properly compatible with most of the CPC 464 games that were carried in shops at the time (I didn't learn why that was until much more recently), and this led to it being exchanged for the aforementioned C64 when the shops reopened after the Christmas season.

First computer I owned myself was the Amstrad CPC464 with colour monitor.

First computer I ever used was the Acorn BBC A.. or it might have been the original IBM PC with green screen on a friend's dad's PC as he worked for IBM in the 70s.

Oh how long ago was that eh! 1978 or there abouts. It was a Commadore Pet. took ages to load the most simple of games. The one I remember was a bomber flying horizontally, gradually getting lower whilst you tried to drop a square bomb on the pillers of blocks representing the building skylines. I thought it was quite exciting at the time. I have no idea what processor or memory was inside just that it was on 5.25 floppy , I think. Eventually moved to a DX50 with 2/4 mb ram and always using himem.sys to make things run.

Mine was the trusty Sinclair ZX81 with 16kb ram pack it near sent me insane with its nightmare of a loading system but when it worked it was awesome.

I didn't own my own computer until around '89 - '90 it was the C64 C. I played with friends computers before that. My first Computer experience was on a Speccy 48k. Soon after my C64 I went to an Atari 520St then onto an Amiga 500 then A1200 :)
