Hey guys. Does anyone know what is going on over at Amiga Kit? I am finding it impossible to get orders posted, some of which were placed six months ago. In the past most orders I placed were dispatched within days. Some of my orders are for items shown clearly as in stock, but months later they are still shown as "pending". One of the items I had actually asked for a lead time before purchasing and was told "several weeks", however that was six months ago (though I was recently told it should be sent in April - which is about to run out).

I have emailed Amiga kit several times and get a response around 50% of the time. The last update was that they would consolidate all the currently available items from several of my pending orders "next week", that was two weeks ago and still all my orders are pending.

What makes it worse is that many of the items are for systems being shown at my local Amiga club.

Is anyone aware of any issues etc Amiga Kit are currently having? They are usually so good to deal with but I am recently finding that I am forced to place orders elsewhere as I simply cannot afford to wait months for items to be posted. :(

I made a small order at the end of Feb from Amigakit. It was ignored. I made a another order a week ago and it was sent 5 days later, so it's on it's way.

Weird. I currently have five incomplete orders I am waiting on, one from December 6th last year.

I think if they are having problems keeping up with orders they should have a "current waiting time" on item pages so you know if you purchase you will be waiting X months for your item to be posted. At least this way you can decide if you can wait, or need to purchase elsewhere.

The irony is, they used to be so good - orders posted within a few days of ordering - I used to recommend them to any and all Amiga fans.

I hope whatever is going on over there gets sorted out soon. :(

I made an order with them 2 and a half months ago.. about 90 euros... and it keeps saying in progress... a few days ago I asked for a refund because there is no point in waiting any longer.. and I haven't received any notification yet... strange things happen to them...

Sorry, but the aforementioned store is not my primary anymore (not even the last). There are far better Amiga stores with super customer support among other things (like in Spain or Germany).

I suggest to everyone/anyone having problems with Amigakit, or any other company delaying shipment for longer than 28 days to contact their credit/debit card issuer or Paypal to start the ball rolling on a refund.

You might be surprised how fast a company will suddenly get your order shipped or issue a refund.

I ordered some items three weeks ago and even though I expected them to be on the shelf it still took 2 weeks for the parcel to arrive

Wow, you are actually pretty lucky - 2 weeks? One of my orders was placed on December 6th last year.... another order in February..... :(

I've not ordered anything recently from them, but when I have it has come quickly. Sadly I've been seeing these sort of comments a lot more on the Facebook groups too that Amiga Kit is failing to supply and worse not communicating with their customers when contacted.

Such a shame really

My last couple of emails have not been responded to (as of now). Unfortunately this seems to fit the pattern than many have described... I have emailed support@amigakit.com (I usually get a reply from Chris), but not having much luck at present - can anyone suggest another email/contact that I might try?

Too busy building PiStorm's I expect but that is no excuse for leaving customers without answers.

Edit:

Ever notice how you get your stuff from here much faster than you seem to from the commercial companies? Maybe they should come here, take a look and see how it's really done ;)

I only buy from amigakit when I can’t get an item economically from another source, and I only buy through their eBay store. That way if they fail to despatch within the specified timeframe I can cancel the order and get an easy refund from PayPal.

Given some poor experiences in the past, I won’t buy through their website anymore and risk stuff just not being despatched this century.

I have an update! Four of my outstanding orders have had their status changed to "Being picked"!

So, either this is just a coincidence, or perhaps someone from Amiga Kit has seen this thread? Either way, the strange thing is the status of "being picked" has been in place for two days now and whilst I have about two dozen items between the orders to "be picked" I would not think it would take two days to "pick them".... I wonder if I am just unlucky and all of my items are on the top storage shelves...... and someone stole their ladder? ;)

In any event the fact that the status has been changed after all these months is positive at least - they may end up getting shipped in the near future (if they can borrow a ladder ;) ) - it's just a shame that many of the items I have now, out of desperation, purchased from other suppliers, which ironically have all been received.

Still, spares are always good to have, so fingers crossed.

@Jameson

Amigakit looking here to see if there are any complaints? If so, perhaps they should be looking more in their email folder instead.....

I know and understand that Amigakit do assemble some items and soak test them themselves to ensure they are fully working, perhaps a simple message attached to the order to say this was happening would be nice instead of a long wait with no update or comms? - take note Amigakit ;)

Well, I got my Mega65 ( mine is actually the first serial number released to the public), however my Spectrum Next Issue 2 is almost two years overdue..... the difference is Amiga Kit shows their items IN STOCK when you purchase them... so the world wide chip shortages are not an issue here (or should not be anyway).

@Jameson

Stock updates should be up to date but sadly some companies inflate the numbers in order to get the orders ( allegedly ;) )

I always get my Amigakit orders quickly, I must be on their VIP shipping list lol. Matthew did take quite a long time with my ReAmiga repair but I wasn't in a rush and he did a fantastic job sorting a tricky issue with budgie.

I'm sad when I see posts like this as it's a real shame not everyone is getting the best experience and it's far too many for it to be a coincidence.

Best advice as above is to do a charge back if you don't get anywhere but that doesn't make up for the disappointment.

Yessum, I have had an Amiga Kit account for years and have only had these issues with getting orders shipped over the past 6 months - which is why I created the thread in the first place - I thought there might be something going on over at Amiga Kit that I was unaware of - renovations, setting up a new shop, death in the family etc.

Whatever it is, I sincerely hope they get back up to speed soon as during searches I found numerous forum threads complaining about the exact same issue, and it would be unfortunate for their business to suffer through negative feedback - they have always been so good to deal with in the past.

Anywho, my four outstanding orders have now been changed from "being picked" to "recorded", with a tracking number next to them - I assume "recorded" is synonymous with "shipped" or "about to be shipped"?

There are still a couple of orders that are "pending" - one is a refurbished A1200 motherboard from a December 6th order, so I can handle waiting a few more weeks for it to ship (apparently there was a bit of a rush on A1200 motherboards at the same time I ordered last year), and a few of the other items are on backorder, but the majority of my orders now seem to be moving.

We all understand issues like this with supplies. With our specific area of retro we are kinda lucky to even have anywhere to go and buy items and upgrades for our 30 yr old equipment.

We had a similar issue a couple of years ago and banned the commercial vendor from Amibay not for stocking or late deliveries but for not communicating with its customers and blatantly ( we have proof ) ignoring messages.

Fingers crossed you get a good outcome
