I placed a complaint with A1200.net several weeks ago but never heard back from them...

@StanMoonie

Just seen this. Wow! The bare faced cheek Steve Clifford is showing. He needs to work for the U.K government with that spin.

I really could not believe his post, he erased all his emails to me trying to cover his #ss on what he did but I have have the ones I sent him. He messed with the wrong guy and I really don't know why some amiga sellers think we have to put up with pure crappy service. He screwed everyone over here in the states that bought thru preorder those cases. Yea those tariffs really suck but what happened to a email telling us it was going to cost extra? He has no excuse because he was selling and is selling on ebay US products from his store so there is no EXCUSE!

Going to chime in here with a VERY brief description of the issue I had. Early may 2024 I contacted him about a custom A600 with a specific spec in mind, total cost around £900. I paid the deposit immediately. Was told 6-8 weeks as standard which is obvioulsy fine.

Waited in the end just over 4 months for the amiga and it arrived with a non functional PCMCIA slot. Returned it to him after some back and forth and then got ghosted for months. It was only in early 2025 when I left a scathing trustpilot review that he miraculously contacted me within the same hour! Suddenly the tone was defensive and making me out to be wrong for being unhappy. In the end he quite literally attempted to hold my Amiga hostage until I agreed to remove the review, which I regret to say that I did in the end as I just wanted things to be over.

The really weird thing is, despite acting like a crook in many ways, he went to the trouble of epoxying some new sclips to the case before returning...So the guy is obviously not completely trust worthy, but still seems to take some pride in the work.

Now I have good money to spend on an A1200 and I'm swerving his business entirely thanks to the utter nightmare of an experience. I don't see his way of doing business as tenable in the long term.

His last post to me over on Amiga.org was a killer, he admits I am correct with what I posted but that it was my problem because of the tariffs, the only problem is I emailed him in the beginning of Nov and he told be it would cost a xtra 22 pounds because of the tariffs and asked if I wanted to cancel or pay the xtra money. Which I told him I would pay the xtra money and to bill me so I could pay it. I asked him 2 or 3 times to bill me which he said he would take care of it the next day NEVER DID. The turd goes on vacation and when he gets back cancels my order and sends me my money back after 8 months!! What gets to me is he can't answer his emails but he sure and the hell can post up on the forums trying to get preorders for amiga stuff!

Shocking, just shocking Steve would do this to his ex-customers!🤠

The sad part, is he has delivered good products to me in 1 experience, though I did have to pester him to ship the order.

Not shocking at all.
Have seen this so called seller do this to many over the years. Even tried to help someone out over on EAB, due to Steve Clifford and his Co-hort “Kin-hell” push goods on unsuspecting people only to get slung off even after reporting his antics to the many so called Admins over there. Who for some reason wouldn’t do Jack! As they have different responsibilities to certain areas of the forum?

I too started off using his services. Yes, I completely get that if you are a one man band, it will be difficult to provide a service etc.. But the way this guy goes about his business is quite honestly a Clown show. Had a couple of recaps done, which were dreadful. Ended up using Ian @ Mutant Catterpillar to sort out his mess. To getting ghosted when I offered other work.

Steve Clifford and his business RetropassionUK (Formally AmigaPassion) is not transparent enough to may it clear what he can and cannot provide. The terms “We” and “Our”, make out he has others? Which he doesn’t.

What I am really disgusted about is the pushiness and how he is the only go to. His bare faced cheek that once he has drained a customer of their money, then he runs. Uses said monies to pay people like @Amigabill and others to defend him!? Also the fact he sells things, then expects others in the community give support to the product he sells on forums like EAB.

Hopefully threads like this will make people aware of his selling. As soon as people wake up. Hopefully the sooner this seller sorts himself out.

I miss Kin-Hell, he was a user here in good standing until a melt down or something. It's water under the bridge, but he was a good guy who could give you a good laugh...

It seems Retropassion is now also selling assembled Raemixx500 V2 boards, which in theory is not allowed by the license.

If you wonder if they asked for permission first, let me say that they got in touch with me as often as they donated something to the project: never ever. And they've been selling V1 (at least) for years.

FWIW, don't buy, it goes straight under my wishes.

The damage Steve Clifford constantly inflicts onto the Amiga community and treating his customers like dirt is disgusting IMHO. It seems he's even stopped posting on EAB now (not seen there since 23rd December 2025) for fear of running into disgruntled customers. Soon he'll have nowhere that will welcome him and his antics.

None of my money goes to him, his company nor his eBay store. I spend it with reputable Amiga stores and genuine 3rd party enthusiasts.

All in all, you can't keep shafting the customer or they simply go elsewhere.

N.B. Even Amigakit seem to have finally figured things out ... My recent test purchase of an A600GS CPU Boost Kit went flawlessly - arriving 4 days after placing the order AND was kept in the loop by Matthew as my order progressed.

He's still busy on the various FB Retro groups trying to buy anything and everything that people post for sale.

IMO you really should not have to buy a speed boost kit.
But every company is trying to nickle and dime customers.

My company (Auto OEM) is now planning to add hardware to vehicles so that after purchase you will sign up for future subscription services and features. You want heated seats 2 years after purchasing the vehicle-no problem just dial up 911-AUTO-OEM and give them your credit card..........
Some auto companies already do it.
