Just went through at least a dozen listings for i5 2500 and as much for i5 3570 and it's virtually impossible to find someone that'll ship to my country. At least nobody selling for under 100€ and plenty of those :P Same story for Radeon R9 280X. Wtf? Not long ago there were tons of people sending all over the EU.

What feedback do you have in ebay? Maybe you have low or negative feedback? Perhaps you do not prefer to pay with paypal? When the seller doesn't refer my country and I contact him, in most cases I get a positive response.

+1 for the above, most sellers are too lazy to list shipping cost to all EU countries if their item sells well locally. It could also be that they are trying to protect themselves from buyer fraud (fraud returns, chargebacks etc..) as it's much easier to deal with problem buyers in their own country than abroad.

I concur - when a postage option to my country is not listed I contact the seller and four out of five times they are happy to ship to me. Does not hurt to ask.

Over the years I've accumulated 548 positive feedback as buyer and seller.

The data I got is just from looking at the listings. I also noticed there's a big difference in how eBay Android app shows search results vs. standard browser version. On Android I can see all the listings but can't actually buy anthing that hasn't got shipping to Slovenia specified. Contacting sellers means that, if the seller agrees, he or she has to manually alter his listing in order for me to be able to make the purchase. Which most of them don't feel like doing because they're lazy bums :P

When I have had someone from another country asking me if I will ship to their country I normally say no. If there has been a bid on your item you cannot change it to include their country. I used to include Europe as default and would ship anywhere in the world if asked but then my stars got knocked down for shipping cost and dispatch time even though I always dispatched within 24hrs. I had items going missing even though they were sent tracked and also had a forklift go through the side of one of my parcels when shipping to Holland. Since I have stopped shipping outside the country and I have had a lot less problems.

I understand although it does sound like you were just very very unlucky. In my case, shipping outside of my country is basically compulsory, if I want to sell anything :-)

It doesn't work like that. Seller can't and won't change his listing. The problem is in Android app. It should allow you to bid on items which are not shipping to your country. On the web, I ask about shipping to my country and the sellers usually agree to do it. Then I bid, win the auction and request a total update from the seller. Seller updates the total, I pay, he ships and we're both happy. I bought my C64 from Germany like that recently, it was shipping only to Germany by default.

Install a Linux distro on your main rig (386DX-40) and eBay from there. ;)

Actually, you can change a buy-it-now listing as long as there's more than 24 hours before the end. Auctions can also be edited under the same condition, as long as there are no bids.

Around 1/3 of the time the sellers do respond with shipping quotes. Its just too bad the other 2/3 don't. Missed a lot of good deals because of it.

Hi there,
i am from Germany, and i'm selling PC's from time to time on the other bay, i have had negative experience with buyers from Italy & Spain. The guy from Spain claimed approx. a month after he had received his parcel. He told that the package was intact, but the plastic in front of the PC was broken, and the worth thing that instread of 4Gb RAM was only 2Gb installed, also he was worried that i have sent him a Copy of Win 10 install and not an original DVD, thru, there was a Win 7 Licence Sticker on the case, but he was unable to register Win 10, the key wasn't accepted (the early WIN 10 bug, u need to install all updates, and then register your copy)..
It was realy bad experience for me, shipping price to Spain was expensive (it was a Desktop PC with 19" Monitor, Keyboard, mouse and all wires), and it was not possible for me to accept the return, even if i could, he has already the licence and so on...So i have sent him additional 4Gb RAM to avoid negative feedback, because i have over 800 positive feedbacks, and i do care to keep my score on 100% positive...
I will never sell any desktop PC outside Germany anymore thanks to such buyers.. That's it.
Maybe You can explain why can't You buy ya PC locally? Why do you looking for one in Germany?

There are a lot of parts being sold from Germany and usually for a good price. For me finding retro hardware locally is very rare.

German guy here. The reason is simple: ebay. They changed the website to the worse. I ALWAYS sell worldwide, but they made it so whenever i list a new item they ignore my original preferences und untick "sell worldwide", so if i don't pay attention the item is listed with shipping only to Germany. As if that wasn't bad enough they made it so when i edit an item (just correcting typos, changing title and stuff) it unticks the worldwide shipping option. It happened to me so often that i was wondering why an item had so few watchers and then i noticed like "DANG! the international shipping option is off again". My tip: kindly ask the seller and offer to gladly pay all extra shipping cost then many people will change the listing accordingly. And as in my case - often "no international shipping" was just a mistake. really.
