previously on a good day if no one els was using the internet within 5 miles, and it was after midnight. i could potentially get 1.8mb down.

This is how it is here, unusually slow ping today but close to the 50 i ought to get in speed (my other machine is using the net)

I'm also on the 120mb with free upgrade to 152 and till around 11pm the best i can get is ~20mb. After 11pm i hit ~125mb

I've tried various servers around the county and am directly wired to the modem/router (superhub) on a GB lan port.

try reseting your hub

tried it mate, even tried switching the superhub to modem only mode and using my own router still only ever get around 20mb until after 11pm then i get full speed till around 9am the next morning. I must be getting traffic managed pretty bad

im on 120mb
i used to get 120mb all the time.
i now get between 1 and 50 mb peak time, that atm is most of the day.

i have a ticket for high congestion my area, estimated 2 - 3 month for fix

I moved states recently and the new house is in a HFC area so got Telstra BigPond Cable a couple of weeks ago (Exchange is too far away for decent ADSL speeds).

I was supposed to get 100/3mbps Ultimate cable but they only gave me the 30/1mbps plan but im pretty happy with it, I get these speeds all day everyday:

so it looks like most of the ppl in my neighbourhood are only using the HFC for Foxtel.

Im not being charged for the Ultimate Cable plan so if I do find 35/1 isnt enuf I'll just upgrade for and extra $20 per month.

We've suffered the oversubscribed nightmare but it seems to be ok on our local cab, after an upgrade a couple of years back - couple of streets over its a different story though.

You're making me all jealous! I can't get anything better than 500kbs ADSL and usually it doesn't even get anywhere near that. I can't watch streams and downloads creep into geological eras :-(
