Nintendo stopped production of nes classic because this coming xmas they are releasing snes classic mini.

It doesn't make sense as it would eat into Nintendo switch virtual console sales but that's the current rumour at the moment.

I hope that's true. I can't see any other reason to why Nintendo would discontinue something that was making so much money.

I bet thats because fo the hack, like my Nes Mini over 700 games and the option for sega and N64 games.

+1 for this, with 30 games it was a nice gimmick to strengthen the brand, but with 700 it's a gaming powerhouse and a distraction from the newer and more expensive offerings and users won't generate extra revenue buying individual titles

Just got an email today that the NES Classic I pre-ordered about half a year ago will not be delivered as they will not receive any more devices..

The point is that it's about buying a birthday present. There are exceptions but I usually want the present to be unused, which obviously isn't the case with the old tackle box.
