Chris

 Ah dang! I guess having one site on the internet without a Will & Kate post was to much to ask for... :p

He salutes when he breaks wind and she bows her head to get a better smell of it

I salute them both - I spent the afternoon drinking beer and eating rubbish in the garden because of the "extra day off" but other than that - all the best to them for the future

Congratulations to all the British... stand proud. I can't speak for all but I know that most of my work colleagues and friends were watching.

Sorry for the off topic.

I believe it to be a mark of respect shown to those that serve or have served in the armed forces. Basically, it's the way the wife of a serving officer "salutes"

Thank you blankstare I just wanted to be better educated and it was just
bugging the hell out of me..

Chris

It is indeed a mark of respect .

Well it because his wife doesn't have a military rank, she's royalty, but other than that anyone without a military rank doesn't salute back.
Of course if somehow Kate would end up in the military too, then it's a different story, but that's never going to happen I guess.
