why wireless mices sucks

One of the cruelest accidental folds must belong to my friend Sami "LarsLuzak" Kelopuro. He was playing online in a highstakes heads-up no-limit game. He had nuts on the river, and his opponent went all-in. If you need to know, the pot was about the same value as a small apartment in Finland.
So there was Sami, licking his lips in front of his desktop and about to click "call." Until he noticed his mouse was not moving. He was playing with a cordless mouse and it had just ran out of batteries.
Sami started running around the house to find new batteries while the time clock ticked away in the table and the warning sounds started to beep. In the end Sami could only watch helplessly how his winning hand was folded in front of his eyes.
 
I blame the software. You should be able to use the keyboard to navigate around or use shortcuts.
 
Everything since the classic ball mouse has been a step down. Wireless mice run out of juice at all the wrong times, optical mice go completely insane when they reach some arbitrary end-of-lifespan. Meanwhile, every ball mouse I've ever owned has kept ticking away faithfully as long as I've kept the rollers clean...
 
All I can say is you must be using some pretty terrible mice. My Logitech Trackball only uses 1 AA and it lasts for freakin' ages and it is as tough as old boots. The last one I had before lasted several years and were alot less of a pain to service.
 
My Logitech MX1000 wireless never let me down. In fact, my friend is still using it to this day. Eight years on and still going.

Twelve years with me and still going without any cable or switches issues, and who knows how many time was with its previous owner (maybe since 1991-92 or so when the A3000 were sold), it's so used that even its plastic is polished on some areas, it almost survived up to 5 PC mices along those years. :lol:

And yep, also with some goo that I've to clean some day... :picard

Logitech Wireless Mouse is Brilliant for me :)

Yeah I'm not big on wireless mouse, they're no good for what I use computers for, gaming & web development.

Too unreliable.

I do like roller mice, but again they're no good for gaming either (too slow)

I prefer a good wired, laser gaming mouse. Wireless mice are too slow to react. Some of them can be quite fast though, but they're still almost an entire 3-5 milliseconds behind a good gaming mouse (wired).

Every millisecond counts on Battlefield when you and your enemy have both just spotted each other at the same time.. who will aim and fire first? He with the fastest mouse!
 
Logitech mx500, 5-6 years old and going strong!! :)
I think optical is a step up from balls mice actually.

Though Ive only ever had 1 mouse ever break, a cheap 8 quid mouse that got crushed under a CRTset stand in a move!
 
Never had any probs with wireless mice or keyboards as i always keep a recharging box by my PC and there's always batts in there ready to go.

Never had a mice die, but have got ball mice pretty cluttered up. optical is a step up in my view too, but just as long as they keep the cord.
 
My amiga trackball has it's metal rollers surface cracked. So it isn't running so smoothly as it used to.
Optical and Laser mice are my prefered to the ball mouse. ball mice always clutter up, and needs cleaning too often.

anyway. I have a logitech click plus at the office. I've had it for 5 years, and it was used when I got it. I've only changed batteries in it this year (they're rechargable)

I must confess that the wireless mice have become much better than they used to. I wouldn't have used a wireless mouse for gaming, but today I think it's ok. Just as long as you don't have a metal table/underlay that weakens the radio signal.

I'm not a fan of optical mice either - I like the weight and inertia of a proper ball mouse!

I've never had one fail, except for the buttons: a problem to which optical mice are just as susceptible.

I'm also using a MX1000 on my main computer, bought around 8 years ago.
Whilst it's looking it's age, and it doesn't quite last as long between charges, it still works very well!

Nobody beats Logitech on quality.
 
My Logitech G500 is the best mouse I've ever used. Well worth the money. And the weight system means you can make it the perfect weight to suit you. It's also really accurate and resonsive, helped by being wired. I also hate wireless mice. You can always feel the lag and lack of responsiveness. However on a laptop for general use a wireless bluetooth Logitech mouse works pretty well. I wouldn't like to use one for gaming or design work though. Definitely woudn't give up the G500 any time soon.

I would never go back to a rollerball mouse again. I always hated how they constantly needed cleaning and had to be used on specific surfaces. I switched over to Optical mice a long time ago, when the first Microsoft Explorer came out. That was a great mouse, although a bit bulky.. the later Explorer V3 was nearly perfect and I used that for years until it started to finally wear out. But the G500 blows those away. It's hard to explain exactly why it is so good... you just have to try one.
 
My logitech m705 with batteries in it are just as heavy or heavier as a old school ball mouse. (the expensive kind with the metal cored balls)
 
I prefer wireless myself. I'd rather have to keep a spare battery in a desk draw than have cables restricting my mouse movement any day. It's not even that expensive if you buy rechargables.

<-- Also a user of logitech wireless mice... and keyboard... both running off 1 receiver. Loving it.

I lost one of mine recently as I take it to uni to use on my laptop, but instantly replaced it as I love it so much. They also have battery low indicator lights so you're given a good 12 hours warning if it's going to die on you.
