X-GAL is based on GAL but with nice look...forgot the OLD TANK :)

  • Extremely compact version if compared to the classic GAL version that can be found online... record size!
  • Replacement PLA with gold turned pins (machined round pins ) for safe contact. No risk of damaging the motherboard socket. A PLA with non-turned traditional pins (let's say square) irreversibly damages the clips of traditional sockets. They are also incompatible if you want to mount a turned plinth
  • Power led

WHEN TO REPLACE THE PLA?

If your Commodore C64 displays a black screen or strange characters, the problem may be PLA U17 (MOS / CSG 906114-01) failure

Of course, most of the time PLA is the first cause but remember that the C64 has many ICs inside (RAM, ROM, SN74LS257, etc.) that could cause a very similar problem, like a black screen. Always proceed with a preliminary check thanks to the "DEAD TEST" cartridge that I always have available

Guaranteed operation and 100% compatibility with all C64 boards except for the ASSY 250469 version which mounts a completely different PLA (SHARP 252535-01)

CARTRIDGES TEST:
  • SUPER ZAXXON
  • Bubble Bobble
  • SMB extension
  • Epyx Fastload
  • GEOS

PRICE:
14€ --> Assembled and tested
12€ --> DIY KIT (2x GAL + 2x stripline + 1x Led + 1x PCB)
