Hi out there in Amiga land,

I have a spare X-Pert Merlin that I want to swap with another RTG card listed below...

Commodore A2410
Great Valley Products EGS 28/24 Spectrum
Ingenieurbüro Helfrich Piccolo with 2 MB
Ingenieurbüro Helfrich Piccolo SD64
MacroSystem Retina BLT Z3

The merlin is fitted with two 2 mb SIMMs and tested as working in an A3000.

As far as I know, no fix, only a heatsink is installed onto the ET4000W32 chip...

8. How can I see if the update is already done?
There should be two short wires on the solderside:
IC24 pin 21 to ic22 pin 7
IC21 pin 10 to IC23 pin 19
And three ICs (IC24,21,25) are replaced with new ones, which mostly have
the numbers written on it by hand.

9. How can I see if the 060 update is done?
On IC25 should be written: "25-2"
If there is only "25" or nothing then the 060-fix isn't done
The 060-Fix is included in the normal update since april 1996.

Can you check?

If it does not have the updates, the very kind man at: http://www.ingenieurbuero-riedel.de/merlin.htm As of last year still sold the chips for the update at a very reasonable price. The update is still worth doing as this card when fully functional is quite nice. It is much faster than the Cirrus Logic GD5426 based boards like Picasso II, Piccolo etc. Though doesn't support truecolor modes in very high refresh rates unfortunately and runs a bit warm.

Made some pictures of the fixes...

So I think fixes done except the 060 fix...

Retina BLT Z3 is a real sweet card. Nice job.

She is much faster than the bottom tier cards and pretty close to the high end ones...
