A few questions:
  1. Has anyone here successfully used the x5000 with a KVM switch or does anyone see any issues with using the x5000 through a KVM?
  2. I notice a number of YT videos of OS 4.1 on the x5000. Are the Radeon cards the x5000 supports capable of capturing desktop video?
  3. Are there any "mainstream" web cams supported by OS 4.1/x5000?
Thanks

hi,
unfortunately I can’t help with your questions, but I think you will find more information on a dedicated AmigaNG forum like amigans.net. I remember reading over there that several users have KVM switches for their x5000.

I use my X5000 with an Aten CS-1768 and it works great.
OK, thanks, that's good to know. I just want to make sure the x5000 does everything I want it to do before forking over that amount of money.

1. I use my X5000 with KVM switches without an issue. Currently, I use it with a CKLau HDMI 4-Port KVM Switch (https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07HRBBLWN) and it works great.

2. To capture video from your machine, the only option is an app called Srec (https://intuitionbase.com/software/audio-video/srec). This is using the CPU to do any capture, and that's the reason you have some limitations on fps and screen size. Most people use external capturing devices.

3. No webcams can be used under AmigaOS 4. There is a lack of drivers, and the USB stack doesn't support everything needed to capture video.

Thanks for the reply, love your YT videos by the way.

Would you mind sharing your configuration because you appear to live stream at the same time you're projecting your x5000 desktop. How is this accomplished without webcam capability?

I am glad you find them useful. Thank you for your kind words.

I am using my Linux PC with OBS to do the streams. To capture video from my X5000 I use an external capture device, which is the AVerMedia HDMI Capture Card, 4K Capture (https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0B799R1J7). With OBS I get the different sources and mix them into one screen.
