so my first post was an auspicious one, partially igniting a small row over queueing order... :picard
(not my fault I swear....)

Anyway, I was big time Ami user back in the day... from getting a batpack sometime in '90 until I left home for uni in '94 I was inseparable from my A500.

1.3 upgraded to 2.04, a 8833-II and a 20mb A590 (with some extra RAM but I forget how much now...) was my pride and joy until I got back from my first year studying Electronic Eng to find my mum had taken it all down the tip
:explode

Nah not really ;)

It was all set up waiting for me to come back :D Whew!

anyway long story short (well I had the long story typed out but lost the rest when the session timed out before I hit post, and forgot to ctrl-c it all :censored: ) my dear miggy got left at home while I partied studied for 5 years at uni and Hamburg and finally came to live with me in Portsmouth in '99 when she got a brief outing by my housemate for a few weeks to prevent him having to suffer Jerry springer on his days off. Kickoff 2 tournaments were re-born! but a couple of housemoves later ended up in the loss of my 8833-II, and joysticks/mouse :( and getting her running again kept getting put on the "must find the time to do this" list... so she's waited patiently since

I spoke to @Merlin a fair bit a few years ago on another board and he told me about this place, but an intervening baby put paid to any chance of doing a resurrection for a while...

but the recent "international amiga day" recently kind of spurred me into action and combined with starting to write at indieretronews.com it just all seemed to fit into place...
So I started making a list of all the bit's I'd need to source, Joystick, mouse, RGB cable and finally got round to sparking up the old girl.

everything seemed to be in order, there were no signs of leaking caps on the motherboard, and the PSU survived it's first power up without exploding, so on it went!

The final situation is now that the trapdoor RAM pack died (after a little bit of running tho - and it wasn't an exploding battery as this one didn't have an RTC or battery at all) and the number row on my keyboard is non-functional from 1->9, and I've yet to try out the HDD...

I also wrote up my progress so far at: indie retro news

Anyway, see you around!

ah cheers mate. It just seemed like it all got a bit sticky!
It turned out that he and I got approved at the same time as me, but by the time it happened, I was putting my little one to bed...

So still on the lookout for an A1200 ;)
