The ppc Mac has a very poor version of the flash player and you tube suffers from low play rate and massive CPU load ..

Now has anyone tried this on a ppc Mac?

You view (10.4 + )

2x the speed of flash on ppc?

I can't try it as I don't have ppc hardware at the mo..

Ppc g4 or g5 running tiger.

Anyone avalible to test it?

Mike

Excellent, not sure if this software is old or new..

Does m.youtube still work ?

Mike.

@mj, if i access youtube through the safari browser on my ipad (3rd generation retina screen thingy) it redirects to m.youtube.com if that helps?

Yep me too just tried it. I used to use that on ppc macs also but the res is too low really..

off topic but a quick question, i have a G4 450mhz ati agp and 1.2gb ram. if i run morphos is that equal too amiga one ??
as far as i can make out, it will run all PPC amiga stuff and 3d also with ati and emulate 68k for older classic stuffs ??

I haven't tried this one, but MacsTube can handle 480p on a 1GHz TiBook, no sweat. The last PPC Flash works for Homestar Runner, which is the only other thing Flash is good for ;)

I'll see what it does facing a 400Mhz G3 soon.

I dunno if the 450Mhz is supported, but...

MorphOS runs all PPC amiga software except OS4 software, and all 68K stuff that doesn't use chipset directly.

OS4 only runs OS4 software and some 68K software. It's generally flakier too.

EDIT:

Just trying YouView now on my Snow Leopard machine (intel), it's better than the actual site! Less fuss, no comments.

On my 1.25GHz Mac mini I'm using Mac Tubes (ver. 3.1) because Youview suddenly couldn't find any video on Youtube! Mac Tubes also lets you save the videos as MP4 which is the format Macs can handle better than anything else.

It is awesome. I was unable to view youtube films om wy Powermac 867Mhz G4 with 1 gig of ram, now they run smootly. You do have to restart sometimes that is a bit of a shame

my bro has tried it on the ibook G4 1.2ghz and he says its great , no more juggering video from the web..

On my PPC Mac, I use a program called MacTube - it works better than in the browser, but still a bit slow.
I'll give this YouView stuff a blast and leave feedback.
