Hello all!

I've just come back to Amibay after a ridiculously long absence (You last visited: 25th September 2013 at 08:16) :-(

I've not got any real excuses for this, other than the amount of work I've been doing across several jobs along with "life getting in the way".

I just wondered what your longest absence has been, from something you enjoy ? It doesn't have to have been from Amibay - anything you've done, hobby or otherwise :-)

It's nice to be back though and I'm looking forward to spending a good part of tomorrow reading up on the last few months and getting back in the swing of things (and finishing off my sales, naturally)

I stopped going fishing in about 1998, it declined due to a change in interests, I was all about cars, girls, illegal substances etc etc.
The last fishing trip I went on was early 1999.
I didnt even think about fishing for the next 9 years, then after all those years I tagged along with a friend & that was it, my hobby was back with a vengeance!
It was always a bit of a hobby but now its a real passion & with a few years experience behind me now its changed my life forever.

So do you sea fish or is it lakes and rivers ? I have a friend who had a similar fishing absence and now goes out quite a few times and week and catches food for the table!

When I was younger I took guitar lessons for several years, but around '96 I lost interest for several reasons, but in '03 I got the spark again. Within a week or so I was back at the same level I was in '96, so it's almost like riding a bicycle. Once I started playing something I used to be able to play, my fingers knew what to do although my brain didn't seem to remember much of it.. That interest had faded a bit in the last year, but it stayed on for quite a while.

I also used to play WOW for several years but lost interest a couple of years ago. I replaced that interest with a renewed Amiga/retro interest which is about the same time I pulled out my Amigas from the back of the closet and joined Amibay. I have to spend my free time with something. :)

I can lose my interest in anything i do or like for a long time like several years, but i always come back to it in the end.
For instance, chess. I have been a ranked club player for several years in the 90's until i stopped totally to play (this game can drive someone crazy and when you are not happy when you win is a good time to stop), but i came back several years later.
The same goes for anything else: computers, video games, board games, sport, etc.
It's more fun to be eclectic and to vary centers of interest over time anyway.

Absent from the Amiga scene (well, owning an Amiga anyway) for over ten years. Pretty sure I was lured back by a combination of WinUAE and Amibay. Much to my fiance's joy (house is filling up with retro stuff).

As a certified ADHD sufferer I tend to collect hobbies and interests like a crazy shopping trolley pushing person and then drop things like a sack of bricks when I can't juggle it all.
