Charles,

So obviously the card is just not compatible with 040. I have a strong feeling that the problem is with Z3SDRAM not supporting 040's burst mode(s). Perhaps inhibiting RAM caching in FPGA firmware could help, I'll try that as soon as I get my hands on Cyberstorm with 060 next week (no 040 cards found here so far).

Regards
Tim

The A3640 has burst permantly inhibited (probably because ramsey only supports page mode for static column ram or it was too hard/expensive to implement), so that is not the issue..

Other 040 accelerators won't burst to motherboard addresses as well, I think..

Tim,

Now that we know the basic card is working, I'm gonna leave positive feedback,
and I suggest we take the troubleshooting to another thread and or PM.

I know you have threads here and on EAB regarding this card, do you have one you prefer?

Thanks

Positive feedback left

The card works for sure in my A3000D. People with 040 boards might want
to wait until the issues with them are ironed out, UNLESS you are willing to be
patient and work with Tim in troubleshooting.

Thanks

Chuck E

Charles,

Thanks a lot. I'd stick to the 'Zorro III Bus Specifications wanted' thread at EAB, mostly for historical reasons :)

Well, perhaps not burst but caching then. I know I don't assert /CINH line currently. Anyhow, will be interesting to look at 040/060 Zorro cycles with logic analyzer, either real one or Altera's SignalTap.

there could of course be some timing thing which is different for 040/060, but in theory, zorro cycles should be independent of cpu, shouldn't they?

In theory, yes. I can only guess so far :)

Tim,

The Jumper settings you wanted are in the EAB 'Zorro III Bus Specifications wanted' thread.

I'll try to get the A3000T on the workbench tonight and see what happens with the
card in there
